Glazer: Rams, Redskins strike deal for No. 2 pick
Posted by Mike Florio on March 9, 2012, 10:29 PM EST

The Dolphins had better offer Peyton Manning more money, because their Plan B has now evaporated.

Jay Glazer of FOX Sports reports that the Rams and the Redskins have agreed to terms on a deal that will send the second overall pick in the 2012 draft to Washington. The Redskins undoubtedly will pick quarterback Robert Griffin III. (Or, at the very worst, Andrew Luck.)

Glazer says that the team will swap first-round picks in 2012, with St. Louis taking the No. 6 pick. The Rams also get two future first-round picks and additional selections, one of which is believed to be a second-rounder.

The trade can’t be finalized until the new league year begins on Tuesday at 4:00 p.m. ET.

Man I hope he turns into akili smith.....

That would be awesome.

I fully expect them with less picks, alot of holes and a ton of space to go crazy Tuesday.

We had better be active, cause if rg3 turns out to be a stud we may never get out of the basement

This sucks.

Maybe if Jerry was on the fence about Mario Williams this will push him over. The Giants won the Superbowl, the Redskins just dropped a bomb on the off-season, Cowboys and Eagles are left to fight for headline scraps. Not Jerry's style.

Not really...they gave up three #1's and a 2 to move up 4 spots. Unless he's a hall of famer, its a painfully stupid deal by the Redskins

The difference between RG3 and those "4 spots" is significant. I agree it's a steep price but it's one hell of a gamble. Good citizen , great player..they just made that franchise relevant.

He might end up being great, but if he isnt its an all time clunker of a deal

He could easily end up being another Akili Smith or Andre Ware

The only positive for me in this is that I no longer have to worry about Matt Barkley becoming a Redskin.

I think Bradford will be okay if he can stay upright. He's got a hell of a head coach now.

well how Hiesmans winners have ever won a super bowl

Paul Hornung
Jim Plunkett
Roger Staubach
Tony Dorsett
Marcus Allen
Desmond Howard
Reggie Bush
Charles Woodson

I only want Super Bowl victories, and looking at this list, you can see that since 1964, if you won the Heisman as a QB, you have yet to show a Super Bowl ring for the team that drafted you. I think RGIII comes at too high a price for the possible return on investment

I see him playing arena league in 5 years

If this kid is the real deal than it’s worth it. Franchise QBs are hard to come by. Ballsy move by the Skins.

One thing I am trying to figure out. Are the Redskins trying to win now or are they rebuilding? Because if they are rebuilding, do you give up three 1st round draft picks? And yet they got all this cap room, so you know they are going to spend like a drunken sailor there.

I actually thought a deal might get done sooner than later.

Reason being, Peyton came out and said "Suck it, Redskins."

Snyder is embarrassed. I think he pulled a Jerry and made a reactionary trade to steal headlines.
