Game recap: Cowboys 16, Bengals 7

CANTON, Ohio -- Linebacker Brandon Sharpe closed the deal with an interception return for a touchdown as the Cowboys beat the Bengals, 16-7, Sunday night in the Hall of Fame game.
The Cowboys' offense couldn't punch in any touchdowns but the defense did a nice job in taking control.
"It felt good to get out there," quarterback Tony Romo said at halftime. "We were able to move around a little and get into a rhythm. Some of the things we were working on in training camp carried over, and it was nice to see that we were able to move the ball."
But the offense didn't score a touchdown, and that is an issue for the Cowboys. Not a major one. But something of concern.
"We want to get it in the end zone," coach Wade Phillips said afterward. "That's something we still need to work on."
The Cowboys went 0-3 in the red zone and kicker David Buehler, despite going three-for-four was wide left on a 49 yard field goal attempt.
There were some injuries of note to talk about. Backup tight end John Phillips suffered a knee injury and it appears serious. Tackle Alex Barron suffered an ankle and wrist injury in the first half. Neither returned.
"Injuries certainly knocked us down a little bit in the game," Phillips said. "We were down to one tight end and we were really out of cornerbacks also so we had to play Teddy Williams almost the whole fourth quarter which we didn’t plan to do and he did pretty well."
The defense forced four turnovers, three interceptions and one fumble recovery and four sacks in the victory. Stephen Bowen was credited with three quarterback pressures and the Cowboys brokeup five passes.
