Taylor: Jason Garrett will get at least three years

Columnist Jean-Jacques Taylor answered your questions in his weekly e-mail newsletter - Inside the Dallas Cowboys. Here are some highlights.
Q: Rob Ryan will be an NFL head coach soon. Do you think he’ll be the head coach of the Cowboys once Jason Garrett gets canned or will Ryan opt to coach for an owner whose ego is in check and stays off the sidelines?

TAYLOR: There are only 32 of these jobs in the world. Ryan will take one of them, no matter where it is — or who owns the team. Jason Garrett is the only one who turns down multiple head coaching jobs.
I don’t think Garrett is getting canned any time soon. He’ll get at least three years. If Al Davis and Mike Brown can keep finding coaches, then you better believe Jerry will be able to find a coach.

Q: The Cowboys can’t directly have someone helping keep Dez Bryant under control but why not do that by proxy? Couldn’t they have Michael Irvin reach out to him?

TAYLOR: At what point should a grown man try to seize control of his own life. Michael is around if Dez needs or wants to talk to him. David Wells provided security for Irvin for about a decade in the mid-’90s. Dez has a lot of things in place to help him. He just needs to take advantage of it.
