Sherrington: Most scouts think Dez (Bryant) is a better athlete than Crabtree

Columnist Kevin Sherrington answered your questions in a chat Wednesday. Here are some highlights.
Rick asks ... have you gotten a look at Dez in practice and has he impressed you? Crabtree had 600 yards w/o camp, can Dez do that if he gets his share of time?
Kevin Sherrington: Have not seen Dez in practice and don't have to. Great player. Most scouts think Dez is a better athlete than Crabtree. We'll see. Crabtree is a tremendous competitor. I'd settle for either one of them. And, yes, I think Dez is more than capable of that kind of season.
djt1 asks .. what do you think of ESPN's assessment, that the Cowboys' rough preseason is because of a combo of the team believing all of their clippings and Wade's laid-back style as a coach?
Kevin Sherrington: Don't put much stock in that. The Cowboys do, indeed, have problems in their OL, but they also have put out the most vanilla game plan in the league. Not many coaches are hired or fired over their preseason results. Let's give Wade a couple of weeks before we start in on him again.
lawboy19 asks ... What are your thoughts on Alex Barron's "play" this preseason and his future with the Cowboys?
Kevin Sherrington: Leonard Davis was a bust in Arizona , but he's been very good for the Cowboys. Part of the reason was that the Cowboys made him a guard instead of a tackle. Players have to be put in the best position possible to succeed. That doesn't always happen. We'll see what happens with Barron, who was criticized for wildly inconsistent play in St. Louis. The Cowboys won't be asking as much of him, with any luck.
david asks ... Do really think that the Cowboys can solve their running problem before the regular season?
Kevin Sherrington: The Cowboys have had problems off and on running the ball for years. The patchwork structure of the offensive line isn't helping. Until the line comes together, they'll have to rely more on screens and draws. I don't see it coming together quickly.
blackwolf21 asks ... do you see any trades the Cowboys will make for offensive linemen?
Kevin Sherrington: Here's the problem with making a deal now: No part of a football team requires greater cohesion than an OL. You just went through training camp, and now you're going to add a significant piece? They may have to do it at some point, but it's not going to be a quick fix.
