ORCHARD PARK, N.Y. -- The Dallas Cowboys called up Jameill Showers from the practice squad on Friday, giving the rookie a nice Christmas present, but can the quarterback make it to the 46-man roster for today’s game against the Buffalo Bills?

Dez Bryant (foot, ankle) and Morris Claiborne (hamstring) were ruled out on Saturday. We know the Cowboys will go with seven offensive linemen, so Ronald Leary and Chaz Green will be inactive.

Rolando McClain will return after missing a game with a concussion, so Mark Nzeocha could head back to the bench, however Kyle Wilber is questionable with a shoulder injury. Regardless, the Cowboys will go with six linebackers.

In addition to Showers, defensive tackle Casey Walker was called up from the practice squad. Do the Cowboys go with his size in the middle over, say, David Irving? Can they go with nine defensive linemen? Highly doubtful.

And it seems to be the same at quarterback for Showers. He has not taken many snaps at quarterback with the scout team let alone done anything with the Cowboys' offense in practice. It makes more sense for Matt Cassel to be Kellen Moore's backup.

So the guess at the inactives joining Bryant, Claiborne, Green and Leary is: Showers, Walker and Nzeocha.

Maybe Showers gets a look in the regular-season finale next week.

I need to link to that CZ clown who had "insider" info about how much the staff thinks of Showers as a QB.

Yeah douchebag. They think so much of his QB skills that they moved him to safety, WR, personal protector on the punt team and probably designated Krispy Kreme getter for the coaches.
