Manning was an idiot for staying in school and risking his NFL future like he did.

It's not the right decision to play russian roulette if you happen to get lucky with an empty chamber.

Luck's even more of an idiot, as he's more of a slam dunk lock 1st overall pick and his team stands zero chance to win a national championship next year.

You can, but you cant QB your team to a national championship or win the heisman trophy once you go to the NFL

Payton Manning was universally praised for staying in school, and everyone knew he was bound to be the #1 or #2 pick. Why should Luck be treated any different. And Luck isnt even a JR, he's a redshirt SO

Stanford is not going to win the NC.

And while it'd be cool to win the Heisman, that is far from a lock as well. Again, if he gets injured, or has a down year under a new coach and with three new offensive lineman, or there is a rookie pay scale (as is widely speculated there will be), then he's basically surrendering millions.

Ridiculous decision, IMO. No question about it.

The biggest mistake he can make is the money.

If this CBA is decided, and there's a rookie salary cap, he just f'ked himself.

He'll still make a ton of money. He'll also get endorsement deals.

They were 1 loss away from playing for the national championship this year.

Losing their coach could be a big hit, but they have alot of guys coming back and Harbaugh supposedly has recruited well there.

The Pac 10 is not a powerhouse conference, they could easily win 10 or 11 games again next yr, especially with Luck at QB

That is an ignorant take on the subject. He won't get a contract until after the CBA is done so the rookie salary cap will affect him no matter what.

Not only will Stanford not win the NC next year, they won't even finish in the top 20.

When you are guaranteed to be the first pick overall in the NFL draft, you are a moron for going back to school.

That's a blanket statement that I think is always true. You're putting yourself at an unnecessary risk. You can have all the education you want after your playing career.

I have to agree. With the money as the #1 pick, he could buy Stanford.
