for me, football would not be the same without madden and summerall.. I think they are as important to the nfl rising to to the top as much as the players and coaches.....
the nfl on cbs in the 80s till it left for the awful fox network was incredible.
The open's to big games were incredible, the screen was clean, the broadcasts were basically perfect.
today we get tmz style pregames and two seconds into the broadcast we get losers like joe buck starting right in with negative stories and then beating them to death...coupled with insanely over the top scores, fantasty stats and player stats.........then we get horrific sideline reports......and way too many shots of the coaches...
so anyway, without madden and summerall I have no idea where the nfl would be....if we had the announcers in the 80s when the nfl took off that we did today who knows what would have happened....
