Marc Colombo, the Cowboys' starting offensive right tackle, underwent arthroscopic surgery on his right knee today but could return for the regular-season opener.

According to owner-general manager Jerry Jones, an orthopedic surgeon removed from loose bodies from the knee. Colombo had played in the first two exhibitions and struggled in last Thursday's loss to Oakland.

Jones said Colombo could be out for 10 days to two weeks. The Cowboys open the regular season at Washington on Sept. 12.

"We certainly don't look to not having him for the first ball game,'' Jones said.

Robert Brewster, who spent last season on the physically-unable-to-perform list, took Colombo's spot with the first-team offense. Alex Barron , who has been limited by a sprained ankle, has experience starting at right tackle in the NFL.
