Dallas Cowboys coach Wade Phillips said today he plans on using the starters for about the entire first half in Saturday night's exhibition at San Diego.
That continue the usual pattern of increasing the starters' workload during the preseason. The starters, on both sides, played one series in the opener against Cincinnati and about one quarter in the second game, against Oakland.

``Team-wise, we're looking at pretty close to the half with the first group, or a variation thereof,'' Phillips said.

Phillips said a few substitutions could be made during the half based upon situations.

Starting quarterback Tony Romo could get about 35 plays. He has had 30 plays in the first two exhibitions combined.

I have no problem playing the starters for a half, as long as Tony isn't running for his life and doesn't get sacked 7 times.
