NEW YORK -- New York Giants quarterback Eli Manning went to the locker room in the second quarter of Monday night's preseason game with a laceration to his forehead.

The 3-inch gash required stitches, the Giants said. Manning will not return to the game.

Manning was injured on a third-and-1 at the Jets' 5-yard line with 10:45 remaining in the second quarter.

Manning was dropping back when he collided with his own running back, Brandon Jacobs, on a clear miscommunication. Manning lost control of the ball and, while trying to gather it back in, he got drilled from behind by New York Jets linebacker Calvin Pace.

Manning was hit so hard from behind, his helmet flew off. On his way down, with his helmet off, Manning appeared to hit his head on the facemask of safety Jim Leonhard.

Manning staggered to his knee at first, then immediately walked toward the sideline where he was attended to by the Giants medical staff. Manning then walked back to the locker room.

Backup Jim Sorgi took over for Manning.

How did they not write the headline "Manning has Giant Gash".How?

Then I could have said this:
We know know that, but is he all right?

Weakass headline writers.
