They seemed to like Dak all along BUT they tried like hell to get Lynch and then targeted Cook before settling.

Then when Moore went down, they started scrambling to find a back-up.

Homers are acting like they are vindicated but even the team didn't seem to know what they had in Prescott.

Not to mention they had Kellen Moore getting all the reps Dak is getting now.

What an incredible coup it will be for the future if Dak turned out to be a stud, I'm giddy at the possibilities while having those hopes tempered by there fear of how jeri will fuck it up

Some things even Jerry can't fuck up, at least not right away.

You don't think they'll still keep 3? They still like Showers. He might be able to make it to the practice squad, but if they really like him they may not want to risk it.

I doubt it unless Romo has some kind of setback health wise.

Sometimes it's better to be lucky than good.

I think to a certain extent finding a true franchise QB is luck for just about everyone. One, you never know how these guys will pan out. Many times (MANY) even the guys drafted really high don't pan out. Some because they are vastly overrated coming out, some because of the situation they end up in, some due to injury etc etc.

Take us with Aikman for instance. Everyone knew that 1988 season he was far and away the best QB prospect in that class and one of the higher regarded prospects coming out in several years. Going into the final week of the season, Green Bay actually had the #1 pick and we had the #2. All Green Bay had to do was lose on the road to the Cardinals, who were 7-8 and were heavily favored. A Green Bay loss ensured the #1 pick. Instead Green Bay won (it was actually their 2nd straight win) while we got beat by Philly. We ended up with Aikman, they got Tony Mandarich.

Really if you think about it all three of the best QB's we've had in our history have been a stroke of luck on our part.

Staubach due to his Naval commitment, we get him in a round we could have never dreamed about (and he also didn't sign with the AFL).

Aikman was luck to a certain extent. Then we got lucky with Romo. Signing him and then having him stick the first yr only because of the pure stupidity of Quincy Carter. He was going to be released had Carter not been cut due to drugs.

Jerry JUST said on the radio that they are NOT going to bring in a vet QB. He didn't say it, but it's safe to assume Dak IS the backup.

Really isn't much of a surprise, Prescott has earned it unless he just suffers some sort of injury or total meltdown himself.
