Found this in the ESPN rumor mill....

Latest on LeBeau

For seven years, Dick LeBeau has patrolled the sidelines for the Pittsburgh Steelers, coordinating the blitz-heavy defense that has sent his team to three Super Bowls. At the age of 72, however, LeBeau may have coached his last game.

NFL Network's Jason La Canfora is reporting that LeBeau will decide next week whether he'll return for another season. The Steelers are ready to sign LeBeau to a one-year contract as early as Monday.

While the Steelers are optimistic that LeBeau will return ("It looks very positive," one source told La Canfora), they have a backup plan in place. If LeBeau retires, linebackers coach Keith Butler will likely step up to the defensive coordinator position. Ken Whisenhunt and the Arizona Cardinals asked to interview Butler for that position, but the Steelers denied the request, knowing that Butler was key to their plans going forward.

I figured with his age it will be happening soon. I'm sure he would have already gotten a contract extension if he planned on sticking around.

Even if he does come back next year you have to figure that might be it.

Probably the perfect time to pass the torch to Fat Rob as defensive genius of the league.

And anybody who responds to that with the name Don Capers can go to hell.

Right now you cannot even compare the two. Capers has one of the best defenses in the league while Rob has a name and player support from some really crappy teams. If Rob turns this defense into a top 5 defense like Capers did with the Packers then we can have the discussion.
