Cowboys sign another lineman
July, 29, 2010

By Calvin Watkins

SAN ANTONIO -- The Cowboys, with a shortage of healthy defensive linemen, signed Jimmy Saddler-McQueen from Texas A&M Kingsville on Thursday morning.

To make room for Saddler-McQueen the Cowboys released lineman Lorenzo Washington, who battled hamstring injuries the last few days of training camp.

Saddler-McQueen is 6-3, 296 pounds and had a 5.07 40-yard dash time at his pro day.

The Houston native signed with the Chicago Bears but was released this spring.

In his senior season at Kingsville, Saddler-McQueen battled injuries leading to just 30 tackles including six for loss. As a junior, Saddler-McQueen was the Lone Star Conference co-defensive lineman of the year.

I believe Saddler-McQueen was one of Melly Mel's sleepers.

It's a shame about Washington. I think the guy could have developed.

Losing Washington sucks, I just hope McQueen can live up to his name.

I hope Melsy is correct about this guy.

I don't dig the hyphenated name. He should have just taken his husbands last name when he got married.
