Attendance numbers are in and show why Cowboys owner Jerry Jones isn't bashful about making his team hit the road.

Here's the travel plan for Jerry's magical mystery preseason tour: from Dallas to San Antonio , to Canton, OH, back to Dallas, to Oxnard, CA, to San Diego (via an excruciating train trip), back to Oxnard, to Houston, and finally back to Dallas. Got all that?

We're nearing the end of it and it'll be interesting to see how the players perform in Houston. Will they display the same lackadaisical feel we saw against the Chargers, or will returning to the great state of Texas give them a charge?

Whether you're a fan or not of all the frequent flier miles your team is racking up, consider this, for Jones its all marketing and the number back him up.

Attendance in San Antonio: 200,989; Cowboys Stadium: 21,539; Oxnard: 74,825.

Add in Cowboys fans in Canton and San Diego, and Jones total outreach was probably in the neighborhood of 350,000 fans. Contrast that with the defending Super Bowl champion New Orleans Saints . They hold their practices at their team headquarters in Metairie, La, a New Orleans suburb. According to the USA today, the Saints averaged about 3,000 to 5,000 fans a week. Huge difference.

When you're P.T. Barnum or Jerry Jones its all about marketing. And while Cowboy players will get back home early Sunday morning road weary, they served Jones preseason purposes: get ready for the regular season and spread the gospel according to the star.
