Rumors:

* Sounds like the Cowboys are trying to get Lber coach from SD. Dont know if that would work out.

* All Def coaches might be staying.

Eatman says the reason Romo isnt in the probowl is because of the fans. They just dont like him. Dallas has more fans than any team. He should be in the probowl with votes.

* Players gone:
Spencer - gone
Victor Butler - gone, theres no spot for him. Brings minimal production
Kyle Wilber - didnt get to see alot of him. Didnt work at ILB. Could get left behind with the switch to the outside. Looks like a OLB.

*How do Ware/Spencer fit in 4-3 DE:
Most of the DE's around the league players that are in the upper tier DEs between 265-280lbs.

Can you ask Ware to get bigger and stay at the same speed at his age? They say he has a big frame so he could probably do it. 10-12lbs will do it for him.

* On Caller about drafting RB early.
Never draft a RB anymore early. 3-4 round would be best in todays new nfl unless their elite.

* Which two players would u keep.

Free
Austin
Ratliff
Spencer

Derek makes a good point on Austin. Romo has made average players look good. Brings up Laurent Robinson.

* Biggest relief on the cap with restructuring and releases.

Carr - you save 10 mil restructure.
Free - cut you save 7 mil.
Austin - cut you save 4-5 mil.
Connor - you save 4.
Romo - save 5-6 mil restructure.

Jerry wants to win so its a good idea to restructure Romo.

* Caller on trading down for more picks to stack up on needs.

You dont know what ur going to do until draft day.

* Who manages the cap? Stephen Jones is really good with the cap.

* Serviceable safety recent but can you get a playmaking safety?

They say no, not in the draft, and cant afford one in FA. They say safetys play isnt long. Say Earl Thomas Has probably 2 yrs left at his level of play.

Dallas likes Church and Johnson.

Barry Church is combine slow, but on the field he is fast enough. Never a play where he couldnt get to where he was supposed to be.

Breaking news: Eagles sign Chip Kelly Oregon coach.

* Who do they see in OC? Why is Callahan getting a pass? OL got worse

Callahan has done it before. Had success before. They give him better players you will be better. Callahan wanted to move to Parnell earlier in the yr. No talk on bringing anybody in.

* On Mack moving to C?
Costa was really good when he played. Mack you keep at Guard and Costa let stay at C. Could draft a guy that can play either spot.

* Backup LBers
Not a whole lot of backup Lbers you need for this team on the roster.

* Spencers Market value:
Depends on what teams think of his value aswell. If you didnt think he was a good sign for 4-5 mil last yr, sure not worth 10 mil a yr now.

* Caller about if you could trade Ware for a 1 and a 3?
Would be a huge hole without Ware. Big hit on the cap this yr.

The longer you can play with these players with bigger contracts the better. They bring up Austin and Ratliff. If you can play them another yr would save alot more to release a yr after.

* Garrett has to make playoffs this yr or he's gone.

Must be, cuz when it comes to bad contracts, he and his daddy are the worst.

Thanks for the recap.

Why do they say safety play isn't long term, and that Earl Thomas only has 2 years left.

I've literally never heard that notion before.

In fact, it's always been the case that most aged corners MOVE to safety to prolong their career.

Also... Wilbur gone after 1 year? I doubt that. Another 4th round travesty if true though.

It's almost like this is the Cowboys Company Line and justifies putting stiffs back there. I think a great Safety hides a lot other weaknesses and they get into a QB's head. Can't make that throw, so-an-so is back there waiting.

Since we got burned with Roy Williams deteriorating it seems we are unwilling to invest in talent there. Just keep making excuses for bad players.

start listing safeties who do it at a high level year after year.

Ed Reed - ageless, but has started missing time
Polamalu - excellent, but misses significant time

after that its a crapshoot of young guys, mediocre guys who will excel one year and then be average the rest of the time, and scrubs.

So I can kind of see their point. Whereas if you wanted to list corners your list would be enormous because there are tons of talented corners out there who play for a longass time. Safeties are like the running backs of the defense. Their careers are short and are almost entirely dependent upon their supporting cast, or so it seems.

keep drafting safeties then when your stud starts to break down. simple.

Of course we've yet to see a stud at safety here in quite some time though.

Might also have to do with Earl might be benefiting from the best secondary in football. But starting after this yr most of their team starts hitting FA. Seattles entire secondary hits Fa in 2 yrs.
