Cornerback Morris Claiborne didn’t participate in team drills near the end of practice, as he tweaked a hamstring earlier in the day.

Defensive coordinator Rod Marinelli said it was a precautionary move. This is not the time of year, after all, for players to try and play through minor injuries.

Marinelli did praise Claiborne’s offseason to date, and feels the former first-round pick is in line for a solid season in 2016. But this has to be considered a setback for the injury-prone Claiborne.

Claiborne, 26, has missed 24 of 64 games in his career because of injuries.

Doesn't he get praised for the off season every year? He sucks, and there are maybe a few fanboys you could convince otherwise. Even the casual Facebook fans agree he sucks.

What gets me are the types who still insist that he is average or serviceable. Some even still try to claim he played "decent" last year. When I ask for proof there is never any provided. There is no metric by which Claiborne can be claimed to be anything other than total disaster. There is no average or even below average to be found in any of his numbers. It all points to terrible and liability on the field. He makes no plays. Can't pick off a pass if his life depended upon it. Does not tackle well. Does not even defend many passes at all. Allows all QBs throwing against him to have hall of fame numbers. And finally, he can't stay healthy for any real length of time.

Claiborne is a bigger bust than even Bobby Carpenter for a few reasons. 1) Carpenter was drafted at 18 rather than number 6 overall. 2) He wasn't being touted as the next Lawrence Taylor. 3) The team moved on from him when it was readily apparent that he was a bust.

Why this team continues to give the worst bust in franchise history chance after chance is mind boggling. What are they afraid of? It just reeks of managerial and coaching incompetence.
