During the special teams' portion of Monday's practice the players were focusing on shedding blockers and breaking down for a tackle. Mat McBriar was in on the drill, too, and it was, well, awe inspiring.

"He's just a violent warrior," kicker David Buehler said. "He's just that heat-seeking missile toward the ball. If we had 11 Mat McBriars on the coverage team I don't think he could get past the 5."

Could McBriar be a gunner if needed?

"Oh, yeah," Buehler said. "With the blazing speed, he gets that belly rolling, the momentum, downhill force, he just lays some hits. He had a forced fumble last year. He gets pretty violent. The NFL actually talked to Mat and told him it's a liability for him to go full go. He actually killed five people that the government knows about. Knows about."

After he failed to properly run the drill, Wes Phillips said, "OK, that's not what we want."

"Wes doesn't know what he's talking about," Buehler said. "That was beautiful technique."
