Like Leary, we're better off keeping him for depth.

If Jackson performs in preseason the way he has in offseason so far in training camp, I'd much prefer to keep him. Bigger, faster, obviously younger and much cheaper. Has a lot of upside. He'd unlikely clear waivers to make it to the PS.

That'd give us two rookies plus veteran Morris, which I think is plenty. Rod Smith might be the 4th RB and they've been trying him at FB, seems they are ok with what they are seeing there so far. He can play both spots and also plays special teams.

Did anyone watch the scrimmage? Tough to watch and be excited. The offense has nothing. The running plays have no hope of gains. It's silly. The Lbs know what's coming and jam the middle and the plays still go to the same spot up the middle. So the red zone solution of 2014 with Murray where the the running play could go right left or swing out seems very very far away. I know it's just the scrimmage but the defense looked like it was taking it easy on the pathetic offense. The red zone plays were over before they began. Most of the time Romo et all had to wait and would have been sacked.

The only thing that seemed a little positive was Dak had a roll out and throw play that looked like he could have had a running or passing gain fairly easily.

Of course, you just KNOW the genius Ginger isn't letting anyone see the real offense....

Right?

It wasn't much of a scrimmage and the plays they ran were really basic for the most part.

The other thing is none of the veterans really participated in the "scrimmage" anyway. The vets only participated in the regular practice session.

So you're saying there's hope.

Yes folks, we should be concerned. VERY concerned.

Cowboys coach Jason Garrett confirmed Tony Romo will not practice and part of the reason is the practice script. The focus of the workout will be short yardage and goal line situations.

Sound like he is close to returning. I'd think he's definitely out Saturday so maybe he returns to practice Monday.

Ezekiel Elliott (hamstring) making progress but will not practice today, Garrett said. Team continues to be deliberate w/ soft-tissue injury

Yeah we don't need the starting QB in those situations on game day. Perfect. Logic.

Makes zero sense at all.

Only thing that makes sense is his back is really bothering him again and they have to hold him out for fear of bigger fucking problem.

Makes perfect sense, we know we can't throw it long on 4th and 2 anymore, it's just gonna be hey diddle diddle, run up the middle and defenses won't be ready for it! No need for the starting QB in there, we won't ever FAKE the run on a play-action and actually throw for those short yardage gains!

They would LIE about his back? Egads!

I like them being cautious. Hammies and backs are things to be very careful with.

Yeah we can't risk injury while working on goal line offense and short yardage! Hell, we don't need the starting QB for that anyway - only ever just gonna hand off to some big oaf who's only ever in there for these situations anyway - and the defense will be confused!

But we'll have him out there for all the other stuff cuz ya know, he can't get hurt running away from pursuit or anything.

typical. Early in camp you want people getting injured. Always knew you were a eagirl fan in disguise.

You actually are stupid enough to think Tony risks more injury working on goal line offense and short yardage, than he does working on the passing offense, twisting his back and running around?

Is irony always lost on you?

OBVIOUSLY you dumbass, Tony's back is tweaked and their lame excuse for resting him today is "we don't need him for goal line and short yardage anyway."

Wake the fuck UP. dbair called it right for once.

Is it:

Dallas, the only team in the NFL who thinks it doesn't need its starting QB in goal line and short yardage situations....

Orrrrrr

Dallas, who rather than admit Tony's tweaked back is bothering him, give some lameass shit that they don't really need him for today, since all we're working on is goal line and short yardage offense.
