Like the pic. Seems like a tough leader.. We'll see.

Hate the fact that we traded a third to move up tho.

Nolan Nawrocki: 4th rated OLB, 24th player overall, 2nd round projection.

A loose, explosive, long-limbed athlete, Lawrence consistently pressurizes the edge and harasses quarterbacks. His pass rushing ability rates among the best in this year's class, and he holds mass appeal. Lacks ideal stoutness at the point of attack, but could thrive as a 4-3 right end or 3-4 rush linebacker, and should contribute readily on passing downs.

-

Frank Coyle, Draft Insiders Digest: 8th rated DE, 85th player overall, 3rd-4th round projection.

He may never be more than a situational pass rusher, though one who can become a valuable part of a nickel package at several spots. His skill set fits an NFL starting defender with further development in both technique and strength. His value will be his big play ability and overall potential production. He most likely goes in the 3rd round area off triangle numbers, production and big play ability. Talented prospect with the skills to find a niche as a fine situational rusher and eventual probable starter in the right setting.

-

Scouts Inc., ESPN: 5th rated OLB, 43rd player overall, 2nd round projection.

Lawrence has been suspended multiple times, raising concerns about his maturity and discipline. He can also do a better job of keeping his pads down and getting stronger at the point. The reason he's a good second-round value is his ability to get after the quarterback. He has above-average initial quickness and shows good torso flexibility bending the edge. He doesn't have to win with speed either. He can generate speed to power and he has the quick hands to keep offensive tackles off his frame when offensive tackles take away the edge.

-

Dane Brugler, NFLDraftScout: 2nd rated DE, 24th player overall. 1st-2nd round projection.

He is a versatile athlete who can be moved around the front seven with his coordinated quickness and natural pass rush skills. Lawrence can be controlled when blockers get their hands on him, but he has strong and fast hands himself, ripping and setting up his moves while tracking the ball. Teams will likely be split on whether or not he's a DE in a 4-3 or OLB in a 3-4, but he projects highly at both positions due to his athletic prowess and undeniable pass rush upside. Disruptive talents like this usually don't make it out of the top 32 picks.

Norm reporting on the Ticket now that Atlanta was going to pick Lawrence with their second round pick. If the Cowboys wanted him, they had to trade up.

It's speculation and even if it isn't, it doesn't justify overpaying. Look at the D Linemen who were still available at 47. Wrong move with this year's class.

That's what the locals have been saying here for two days basically. That if they didn't trade up for Clowney yesterday, Lawrence was their guy in round two

It'll be two or three years probably before you have any idea whether this is true.

Maybe they will be wrong, but if they are right about where they rated him (mid first rd pick, one of the top 2 or 3 rushers in the draft) then it is not a bad move.

From Prisco

34 Grade A Cowboys select: Demarcus Lawrence, DE, Boise State
Great move by the Cowboys. I had a first-round grade on this kid. They need pass-rush help.
