A loose, explosive, long-limbed athlete, Lawrence consistently pressurizes the edge and harasses quarterbacks. Lawrence has been suspended multiple times, raising concerns about his maturity and discipline. He can also do a better job of keeping his pads down and getting stronger at the point. The reason he's a good second-round value is his ability to get after the quarterback. He has above-average initial quickness and shows good torso flexibility bending the edge. He doesn't have to win with speed either. He can generate speed to power and he has the quick hands to keep offensive tackles off his frame when offensive tackles take away the edge.

It's speculation and even if it isn't, it doesn't justify overpaying. Look at the D Linemen who were still available at 47. Wrong move with this year's class.

That's what the locals have been saying here for two days basically. That if they didn't trade up for Clowney yesterday, Lawrence was their guy in round two

It'll be two or three years probably before you have any idea whether this is true.
Maybe they will be wrong, but if they are right about where they rated him (mid first rd pick, one of the top 2 or 3 rushers in the draft) then it is not a bad move.
