Clinton Portis sprains ankle against the Jets
Redskins coach Mike Shanahan revealed that Clinton Portis suffered a sprained ankle in the team's preseason win over the Jets Friday.
This explains why Portis had but one carry. Shanahan says the severity is unknown, so the Skins are probably giving Portis an MRI. Even if the sprain is not significant, this is a reminder that Portis is a poor bet to stay healthy entering his age-29 season. Among active players, only LaDainian Tomlinson, Fred Taylor, and Thomas Jones have more carries than Portis' 2,176. Aug. 27 - 10:28 pm et
