Hey listen, I'm right there with you about defending ourselves from a tyrannical government sounding crazy or ridiculous. That's the thing that bothers me. I would never put my money or life on a bet that that could never happen here though..even though it sounds silly.

Not just silly, but think about all the steps that would have to happen before this even gets into the realm of possibility.

I think it was because I watched that retarded Jim Carrey thing where he was making fun of him the other day and just assumed he was still around.

At least he got out before the invading Chinese army got him.

Yes, please enlighten me. What's the big deal with registering a gun?

If the govt ever did decide to go over the top and not only ban the future sell of a certain type of weapon, but also decide it was a good idea to recover said type of weapong from those that already had them, it would be a thousand times easier to round them up if they are registered.

Another paragraph of crazy. We will win? A semi-armed, unorganized group of civilians is going to "win" against a 5 million strong invading Chinese Army? OK.

It would be our only chance. It's all a matter of opinion and perspective. I think you are fucking nuts for eschewing the idea that it's possible. It scares the shit out of me that so many of you are out there to be honest.

Again - who is taking your guns?

Obama is trying, but I hope to hell he fails.

Honestly the feeling is mutual.

The 10-year ban was passed by Congress on September 13, 1994, and was signed into law by President Bill Clinton the same day. The ban only applied to weapons manufactured after the date of the ban's enactment.

Oh, so you're saying no guns were taken then? Just to be clear, the government took no guns away from you?

Also from that link:

The National Rifle Association has referred to the features affected by the ban as cosmetic,[4] as has the Violence Policy Center.[5]

In addition, in March 2004, Kristen Rand, the legislative director of the Violence Policy Center, criticized the soon-to-expire ban by stating, "The 1994 law in theory banned AK-47s, MAC-10s, Uzis, AR-15s and other 'assault weapons'. Yet the gun industry easily found ways around the law and most of these weapons are now sold in post-ban models virtually identical to the guns Congress sought to ban in 1994."[6]

Right and when has that happened? Or been proposed?

What if the government wants to take our cars? We registered them and now they know exactly where to come get them!

Well, kudos to you for protecting us against this Chinese horde. You go ahead and arm up while I watch our Air Force and Navy sink their armada of troop carriers crossing the ocean.

Obama is trying, but I hope to hell he fails.
Did you read the article on the recent gun legislation I posted? Again, I've seen this for years. Gun owners getting spun about something that isn't really real and never comes to fruition.

And this, for the "proposed" bit (aside from Feinstein in my post above):

http://www.mercurynews.com/breaking...rnias-state-senate-democrats-roll-out-big-gun

The 10-bill package constitutes the single largest gun control push in decades in the Golden State, which already boasts some of the nation's strictest gun laws. It joins equally controversial proposals from Assembly Democrats that would regulate and tax ammunition sales and consider taking the state's 166,000 registered assault weapons from their owners.

But that's crazy. Unpossible! Hell, I'm probably an enviro-wacko-reclusive domestic terrorist for even posting references other people made/wrote.

As for the car thing, well ... funny enough, they kill orders of magnitude more people than firearms do. But ... you can't defend yourself with one (well, not very well. They're heavy. And big). THAT is the reason nobody gives two shakes about taking cars. Unless they're SUVs. Those are evil.

Oh, wait... http://www.telegraph.co.uk/motoring/news/8411336/EU-to-ban-cars-from-cities-by-2050.html

That is a silly comparison. Almost as silly as the far right comparing a gun ban with a car ban because of the people getting killed on the road.

But... to your point, no guns have ever been confiscated from private homes. Yet. The registration and regulation of guns though will lead to that if we allow it.

And, just to be on the level, you sound fucking nuts to me just as much as I may sound to you.
