Assuming the scouts and decision makers viewed Payton Manning's workout and deemed him 100% healthy, and he appeared to have no limitations from the injury.

The QB market will be quite large. I think some team would easily yield two first picks in exchange for Romo.

Would you sign Manning to a 2-3 year deal, deal Romo for two firsts (minimum) and then look at adding a highly rated QB prospect this year or next year to groom behind PM?

If this was the real circumstance, I wouldn't even think twice. But it's not. No team in the nfl would give up 2 firsts for Romo

The Raiders got close to that for a guy who's only been average for several years. The Donkos got two firsts for Cutler

We'd definitely get that for Romo

Why would a team give up two first for Romo when they could sign Manning as a FA?

Some teams might think Manning wont last, or might think he isnt worth the investment considering his age and injury concern.

I would also think there's alot of teams that might want Manning, but he might not want them.

Might as well trade off ware along with him and take our place in the basement just like last time Jerry had the gang back together under campo.

Then we will have all kinds of picks and cap space.....then manning can suck up all the cap space, get hurt, retire stick us with dead money and we can sign Tony banks.

Full circle.

Third time you have created a trade romo scenario here.

No idea why. The qb isn't getting us beat. So removing one of the positives for an uber expensive, extreme health risk who has zero mobility and post season failures as big as anyone well that is a move bad organizations make.

It's Peyton not Payton and this thread is retarded!

First, Nobody cares for the grammar police.

Second, not really.

It'll never happen, but it would be interesting to consider if Manning were truly 100%.

If he's healthy, he is a better player than Romo is. They could sign someone like Carl Nicks and maybe draft Decastro, and the OL would be sturdy enough for him. They'd then have two extra first round picks over the next two years (or potentially three this year if you convinced Cleveland to give up both their #1's in exchange for Romo) to further improve the team.

A deal like that with Cleveland would potentially net us a 1st rd draft of Morris Claiborne, David Decastro and another quality prospect. Or maybe instead of Decastro they land Upshaw or Ingram at 14 and Konz with the final 1st rounder.

If the extra firsts are over two seasons, you have alot of flexibility next yr to manuever for one of the elite QB prospects.

Like I said, he'd have to show he's 100% and the injury isnt holding him back.

If he's 100%, he is the better player. He'd probably command more respect in the lockerroom too, and this team needs more leadership.

I know its not happening, but its an interesting thought process. If you can upgrade your QB position and land extra premium picks to improve other areas of the team, seems like something somebody should think about.

No f'n way do I trade away a QB that is clearly in the top 1/3 and far from the problem this team has. Especially not for one that's 36 and coming off an injury that has kept him out over a year, and could flare up at any time. Not to mention with a price tag that would be crippling.

Romo has 4-5 years of top play left. As good as Manning WAS, he's old and hasn't played for a year. And you'd want to gamble that he can come back where he left off? For how long? A year, maybe two before he starts breaking down? Maybe sooner.

Stupid.
