41 “Then he will say to those on his left, ‘Depart from me, you who are cursed, into the eternal fire prepared for the devil and his angels. 42 For I was hungry and you gave me nothing to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me nothing to drink, 43 I was a stranger and you did not invite me in, I needed clothes and you did not clothe me, I was sick and in prison and you did not look after me.’

44 “They also will answer, ‘Lord, when did we see you hungry or thirsty or a stranger or needing clothes or sick or in prison, and did not help you?’

45 “He will reply, ‘Truly I tell you, whatever you did not do for one of the least of these, you did not do for me.’

46 “Then they will go away to eternal punishment, but the righteous to eternal life.”

Why do you have stuff? Give it all away so someone else can have stuff. People need health care... Screw your money, house, job and car. If you're not homeless, you're a hypocrite.

SP's interpretation...

me and Jesus are of a mind I guess;

21 Jesus looked at him and loved him. “One thing you lack,” he said. “Go, sell everything you have and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven. Then come, follow me.”

<--- Mind still not changed.

Government has no business in health care.

1 Let everyone be subject to the governing authorities, for there is no authority except that which God has established. The authorities that exist have been established by God.

Don't question anything the government does. The Bible says so

6 This is also why you pay taxes, for the authorities are God’s servants, who give their full time to governing. 7 Give to everyone what you owe them: If you owe taxes, pay taxes; if revenue, then revenue; if respect, then respect; if honor, then honor.
Good thing I pay my taxes.

I know who he was talking to. I felt if you were going to exaggerate my position it was fine to do the same with Jeebus's. He is pretty clear on the taking care of the poor and paying the government what you owe because the government rules at his discretion (allegedly). So I would think Christians would be amped to contribute to programs that are made to assist the less fortunate particularly at the behest of the government - who again, has been put in place by jesus.

The crazy thing is that the exact opposite seems to be true.

24 The disciples were amazed at his words. But Jesus said again, “Children, how hard it is[e] to enter the kingdom of God! 25 It is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for someone who is rich to enter the kingdom of God.”

Don't pretend you weren't exaggerating our positions from the start.

Again, you don't know what Middy or I do to contribute to other things in our every day lives. I happen to believe I can control better where my own money goes than a government that runs at a trillion dollar deficit. Does it mean I don't pay my taxes? No. But the Bible also doesn't say that I can't speak out against what I believe is wrong.

The crazy thing is that the exact opposite seems to be true.
There are Christians at all points in the spectrum. You think you know how all of them are, when it's just not true. You just hear what you want to hear as it pertains to them. I don't judge all atheists by the worst, nor do I judge them all by the best.

Giving to your local church or w/e is completely ineffective when it comes to what we're talking about. That's not going to effect the nationwide change that is necessary in our healthcare system. As much as conservatives hate it, the only entity with that sort of power is our government. (set in place by jesus himself) That's just reality.

Great... guess the thread is sufficiently hijacked.

It's so cute when you guys take Bible verses completely out of context to try to make Christians appear to be hypocrites.

You know those loons you decry who call Obama a communist because of his old associations. You're the same as them.

The government can't even agree amongst themselves what to do... There happen to be factions of the government who believe nationalized health care isn't the way to go. So I guess I have to agree with the majority all the time because you found a verse from the Bible?

I don't mind the government trying to come up to a solution to the problem. I just don't think this solution will work.

lol the ol' "out of context" argument. Next comes "it was just a metaphor". I know all the excuses, my bible-game is top notch.

Lol just caught up. Ban incoming.

Hey listen, my aunts im sure have welfare or food stamps and I know they spoke weed and have cable, so I get the frustration. But we really can't figure something out? Some type of fail-safe where you get taken care of but then owe $50 a month for the rest of your life, or community service, or shoutout on a YouTube video?

Were spending trillions to defend(?) our citizens in the middle east but we won't take care of people who we know are dying?

I don't get why we even have a government if you don't trust them to do anything but wage war and build roads.

Oh, you can commission a bridge that is responsible for the safety of millions of people every day but don't you dare touch my healthcare.

If you trust government that little, conservatives, why do you even vote or take part in the process?

"Because we want to vote in people we trust to keep the government from doing anything!"

ok.

I'm sure something can be figured out where it's something that's as expensive as auto insurance, homeowners insurance, life insurance, or other types of insurance people have that doesn't cost an arm and a leg. Problem is the health care industry, pharmaceutical companies, etc. aren't interested in doing that.

Funny how we don't have to have the government to run all those other types of insurance.

And don't get me started on spending trillions trying to "assist other countries" (read: "line the aristocracies' pockets") who hate us.
