First and foremost I want to see the overall attitude of the team. I kinda enjoyed hearing about players scuffling twards the end of the OTA's. That shows that its game time. Hope they come out amped and if theres a few more scuffles so be it.

Coaching: Id like to see Jason Garrett form a running attack, a consistent running attack. He has a do everything back in Murray and a 3rd down back in Jones. With what i think is Jones' replacement in 2013 in Tanner. Not to mention a real Fullback. Use these guys not just when the media is killing you after a 10 carry 50 pass game. We hear all this heavy talk from Garrett about discipline and attention to detail, Lets see it in your players coach. Oh yeah, try and remember those words in critical situations and know when to call and not call timeouts asshole.

Bill Callahan, I want to see how he's going to utilize and teach these YOUNG lineman his philosophy. Jerome Henderson, Id like to see how he can hide some of the secondaries weaknesses. Should be alot easier with 2 playmaking athletic big CBs.

Offensive Line: Well i just want to see this group of guys with pads on so we can see if the 2 new FAs (Livings & Bernadeau) are scrubs or are another hiden gem in the making. Want to see Nagy, Arkin, Costa, Leary, Livings, Bernadeau, and Kowalski all fight for the 3 interior spots.

When all i said and done I hope this will be the starting 5
Smith|Bernadeau|Kowalski|Leary|Free

Demarcus Ware: He's one of the best players in the nfl. But yes this guys game has holes in it. He average against the run when ran to his side. He'll run himself out of a screen half the time. I hope he can get some meaningful sacks this yr. Too many of his sack come in garbage time. Hell give me a few on them 3rd and 5's that end important drives. Become that leader you're supposed to be and are talking about this offseason. But dont just say it...SHOW IT

Defensive End: Spears, Hatcher, Coleman, Lissemore, Atkins, Crawford, Bass, Geathers all Fight and let the best play. Find 2 DEs who can play the run and create a little pressure. But most importantly can create a little mismatch for Ware and Spencer. DE has basically been a disaster for the Cowboys since they went to the 3-4. Im hoping Crawford and Lissemore end up winning the starter spots. Spears or Coleman can be cut. Crawford, Lissemore, Hatcher, Geathers and The better of spears and Coleman winning stays. Or cut them both.

Linebackers: Bruce Carter needs to come out and take the job from Conner, or Conner will be starting come week 1. And that competition is a good thing. Spencer will probably be starting week one but i hope they let Wilber fight for the job. Guy can cover and i think we'll see him in on nickle downs.

Secondary: Im excited to see Carr and Claiborne tandem. Bigger physical playmaking Cbs...I love it. Scandrick will be the 3rd CB come week one and Jenkins at some point will return. The Question is Safety. Who wants it? History tells us that 1 spot is already settles and thats Sensabaugh because of his contract. I hope thats not true this season tho. I'd like to see Church and Johnson come out swinging and start anew. But realistically i think we will end up seeing Church and Seansabaugh.

Quarterback: Id like to see a little of Orton rub off on Romo. Biggest thing, Take what the defense gives you in situations where theres nothing there but Romo sees different. Usually thats a pick 6. Id like to see a little more fire under his ass.

Wide Receivers: Dez and Austin i hope they come in, in shape and ready to work. Last season Austin was a joke. Went in out of shape and got injured because of it and never recovered. Dez i hope can read the playbook this yr. But the real question is Who the Fuck is going to be the 3rd wr? All signs point to Andre Holmes, i hope he's ready. After that probably Ogletree, Harris or Radway. But word is Radway is not going to cut it. then there is Coale and Hakim. At the end i think Dallas keeps 5. Dez, Austin, Holmes, Harris, Coale. That looks pretty scary after Dez and Austin theres ZERO experience. I hope they bring in a vet to compete.

Good post. I'd add:

Everyone to stay healthy.
Young guys to take the next step: Carter, Murray, Lissemore, Tyron, Dez
Someone to come out of no where - Somebody that we aren't expecting to step up and claim a key role on the team. Someone at the 3rd receiver spot. Someone along the DL (Geathers)
The rookies to contribute - show that you can get on the field and contribute in year one. Starting, specials, special packages....whatever - get on the field and play.
Claiborne to be the real deal and start Day 1
Callahan earning his money by solidifying the OL and helping Garrett with the game management aspect of his game.

He shouldn't surprise. You need your 2nd round picks to start when you are a 6-10/8-8 type team. If he doesn't, it is a wasted pick.

So it's black and white like that? They're either a scrub or a hidden gem. They just cannot be solid? Kosier wasn't a scrub and certainly no hidden gem, but he gave us solid and consistant play, and if we can get that from both of those guys, that will do well for the entire Oline.

Bernadeau at LG...? Hmmm. Livings has been working exclusively at LG. Bernadeau has been out rehabbing from hip surgery and from the last reports, he may be put on the PUP. And even if he is not placed on PUP and returns in time for training camp, he will not be in football shape, and yet you have him displacing Livings? From reports, Leary seems to have the inside track to the RG and Bernadeau may have to compete to start at Center.

Demarcus Ware: He's one of the best players in the nfl. But yes this guys game has holes in it. He average against the run when ran to his side. He'll run himself out of a screen half the time.

Interesting. For the past 4 years, Ware has been among the leaders in tackles for losses. That undercuts your claim of him being "average" against the run. Can you provide some examples where he has ran himself out of a screen? I am not saying he hasn't ever rans himself out of a screen--- every defender has at one point in time, but for you claim that HALF THE TIME he does it, is a bit detached from reality.

I remember an instance a few years back against the Giants, when it was 4th and 1, Coughlin called Brandon Jacobs's number and Ware stopped Jacobs cold for a loss. Jacobs almost always gets the first on 1 yard or less---all he generally has to do is just lean forward.

I hope he can get some meaningful sacks this yr. Too many of his sack come in garbage time. Hell give me a few on them 3rd and 5's that end important drives. Become that leader you're supposed to be and are talking about this offseason. But dont just say it...SHOW IT.

Too many of his sacks come in garbage time...? Are fucking serious? This is plain ignorant and laziness, because all you had to do is simply look this up before spouting off. Out of Ware's 19.5 sacks only FOUR (4), came during garbage time. Just 4.

He had the single sack in the Rams' game that came in the 4th quarter, when the Cowboys were up 34-7.

In the first Eagles' game, he had 4 sacks. Of those 4 sacks, two came in garbage time, when the game was lost.

He had two sacks in the second Eagles' game, with one of them coming in garabge time.

Defensive End: Spears, Hatcher, Coleman, Lissemore, Atkins, Crawford, Bass, Geathers all Fight and let the best play. Find 2 DEs who can play the run and create a little pressure. Hatcher will be one of the starters. He was having a great year last year prior to his injury. I prefer Lissemore to be the other starter. It'd be foolish to cut both Coleman and Spears. You need a veteran presence at the DE position in addition to what Hatcher provides.

Take the job from Conner? The job is already Carter's. It's his job to lose.

If you cant admit to yourself that Ware doesnt have Holes in his game then you're just lying to yourself. Dallas' Last game alone should give you all you are looking for. Ware ran himself out of plenty of plays in that game. As did the rest of the defense for that matter.

But ill say youre trying to act like im saying Ware is a problem. Im saying that he aswell as the rest of the team need to step up his game too. Become the leader he's been preaching he needs to be this yr. And he himself said he hasnt been the leader he needed to be.

Hatcher is another Spears. Boring and average. But so are the rest of the DEs that dallas has so he might start. I just want them all to compete. Why would it be foolish to cut coleman and Spears? Arent Hatcher, Lissemore, Ratliff Ware Brent Spencer Lee all veterans?Spears is a shell of what he used to be, and coleman is below average. If Crawford plays up u can bet one of those two will be cut.

I'm lying to myself? The holes YOU claim that Ware has, I've undercut. You stated that most or many of Ware's sacks were in garabge time, and that's a LIE. It can be proven. I've proved it. 4 out of 19.5 is NOT many. You say Ware is average against the run, that's another lie. That's pretty much makes Ware what he is is that he excels as both a pass rusher and as a run stopper. Does Ware need to become more of a vocal leader? Sure. I have no problem with that. But you cannot tell me that we lost games because Ware was not "vocal" enough. I'd rather have a player that is silent and leads by example, than a rah-rah kind of guy that does not produce. The person that relaly needs to take over this defense and I believe that he is doing just that is Sean Lee.

Ware ran himself out of plenty of plays in that game. As did the rest of the defense for that matter.

PLENTY...? Here you go again. Just like "MANY" of Ware's sacks came in garbage time according to you. I just got through re-watching the game. What plays specifically did he run himself out of, since there were PLENT7Y of them?

But ill say youre trying to act like im saying Ware is a problem. Im saying that he aswell as the rest of the team need to step up his game too. Become the leader he's been preaching he needs to be this yr. And he himself said he hasnt been the leader he needed to be.

I'm not trying to act like anything. You told a lie or used hyperbole, and I proved it false. That's all. Sure, he needs to become more of a vocal leader, and you should have just left it at that.

Yeah Hatcher is average. 4.5 sacks in 10 starts this year is average. Got it. I'm sure those were garabge sacks as well. Spear is excellant against the run, he's never been much of a pass rusher, but he does his job well of occupying blockers so that either Ware or Spencer can get to the QB. He fills out a nice rotation on the Dline and he's cheap. I'm all for Coleman being cut. I'd start Spears over him.

Lol youre the one trying to say im lying prove to me im lying. I can say demarcus ware had 18.75 sacks that were meaningless and say i proved it. Ware has had sacks in key spots like the game winner vs the saints couple yrs ago. But few come when Dallas needs it in crunch time. Thats been the knock on Ware a very small knock but that its there and thats that he overruns plays at time. Again for the like the 10th time i state its just about lifting your game not about saying Ware is this POS who cant play. Like youre trying to make it seem like im saying.

Yes Hatcher is average He provides nothing that could keep Crawford or Lissemore from taking his job if they let them compete.

The rookies making progress. Young guys like Kowalski, Nagy, Arkin and Costa too.
DeMarco Murray looking fully recovered.

You really can't gauge anything from TC practices. The drills they run favor certain units so it's hard to tell what is what.

I think you can tell plenty to a certain extent. the fundamentals, whos improved from last yr in terms of knowledge of the system and how they react to situations. Then the second phase during preseason games and whos going to excell on the field.

Meh, IMO the offseason is basically about the veterans getting into a rythm in preparation for the season and for the 1st to 3rd year guys to get a chance to step up and work on improving their fundamentals.

Not much is shown in practices or preseason games.

Yet the vets are usually the ones taking it easy. The vets were the ones saying the offseason workouts were too long. So they shortened them. right? wasnt that one of the main focal points in the whole lockout? Other than the obvious, money

I'd like to see a limited injuries, naturally.

I'd like to see a young DE emerge as a potential long-term answer. I think Lissemore will do just that.

I'd love it if the young safeties made Brodney Poole expendable.

And I've love to see a defense that has a solid understanding of their respective roles & responsibilities, that would allow Rob Ryan to deploy blitzes and coverage schemes that baffle opposing quarterbacks each week.

as the great brad sham always says, we have tc and preseason to find out who is going to get hurt.

really that is all I want and am really worried about, we need to be healthy, especially in the secondary and on the offensive line.

I am very scared with ware's neck as tc starts.

the right guard and center spot is going to be interesting and frustrating. Safety next to sensebaugh is going to be interesting also.

I think connor is going to be the starter next to lee and carter will play a role in passing downs along with church again at that 40 spot.

as long as free plays well and smith plays well the rest of the lineup is set. Its really just 3 spots and I think somehow someway by october mack is going to be the center and leary/kowalski/nagy are going to be the right guard.

I am worried about punter though.
