SAN ANTONIO -- The second portion of practice was more about who did and didn't show up.
*At his news conference, Wade Phillips said running back Felix Jones was going to miss practice with some swelling in his knee. But then, Jones surfaced onto the field before practice and after a discusison, was working with the team. Phillips said Jones felt better and was limited in practice on Tuesday. It was hard to tell if Jones had any problems. He was cutting and showed a burst as he rans plays. Linebacker Brandon Williams (knee), tight end Martellus Bennett (ankle) safety Akwasi Owusu-Ansah (shoulder), linebacker Sean Lee (strained quad), linebacker Stephen Hodge (knee), nose tackle Josh Brent (hand) and linebacker Jason Hatcher (hyperextended elbow) are on the injury list. Hatcher and Lee joined the list Tuesday and could be out a few more days. Defensive lineman Sean Lissemore left practice with an undisclosed injury.
*David Buehler went three-for-four on field goal attempts. He hit the right upright on a 39 yarder, but made field goals from 32, 46 and 48 yards.
*Wide receiver Titus Ryan is struggling to catch the ball. He had two dropps on Monday and suffered another one on Tuesday. He also had a false start. Ryan, who played with the Calgary Stampeders of the Canadian Football League last season, is fighting for a roster spot somehow, but it doesn't look good in the early going.
*For as good as Miles Austin has been this camp, he's had two fumbles. The second one came Tuesday when after making a catch over the middle, he was stripped by cornerback Orlando Scandrick and the loose ball was picked up by safety Barry Church.
*With Bennett out with his ankle injury, John Phillips is taking advantage of the reps. He made a nice-one handed catch with Keith Brooking chasing him and he's running good sharp routes that allows him to become a easy target for the quarterback.
*Mike Jenkins, Jamar Wall and Church all had interceptions. Jenkins had a Pick Six and Wall continues to be around the ball. It seems he might have the lead over Bryan McCann and Cletis Gordon for the fourth cornerback spot.
*In one nice little sequence, Bradie James, Anthony Spencer and Brooking had sacks. ... The Cowboys will conduct consecutive two-a-day practices on Wednesday. ... Bum Phillips, Wade Phillips' father, attended practice.
