The No. 5 Bush jersey that used to sit just to the right of fellow Heisman winner Matt Leinart's in the peristyle end of the Coliseum has been removed -- the latest step in a variety of measures taken by USC to remove all Bush-related references from its campus and athletic facilities.

The jersey was taken down in time for the Trojans' home opener against Virginia on Saturday night.

The school's copy of Bush's Heisman Trophy and his jersey were also removed from Heritage Hall shortly after the NCAA sanctions were handed down on June 10.

Other Heisman winners still featured on the peristyle steps include Mike Garrett (No. 20), O.J. Simpson (No. 32), Charles White (No. 12,) Marcus Allen (No. 33) and Carson Palmer (No. 3). Bush had been the latest Trojans star to earn the Heisman Trophy in 2005.
