Some of you blame Jerry Jones for the disaster that, thus far, is the Cowboys' season.

Others blame Wade Phillips. Or Jason Garrett . Or Tony Romo.

Each of them bears some responsibility for the Cowboys' woes, but the bigger issue is that this team isn't performing like it's one of the best in the league.

We all say it's a talented team, but it doesn't matter if guys don't play to their potential.

Start with the offensive line.

Center Andre Gurode and right guard Leonard Davis are supposed to be among the best players in the league at their positions. Gurode has been average, and Davis has been below average. Marc Colombo is supposed to be solid, but he's been average at best.

Marion Barber is supposed to be a superior performer, but he's been average. Terence Newman is supposed to be a star, but he's been only above average. The same goes for Mike Jenkins.

The run defense is supposed to be good, but it has allowed consecutive 100-yard rushers, which falls upon Jay Ratliff, Marcus Spears and Igor Olshansky . Keith Brooking wasn't credited with a single tackle Sunday.

And Tony Romo is supposed to be an elite player, but he's only been above average.

That won't get it done.

This season is about to go down in flames unless the best players on this team start playing like it.
