Dallas Cowboys coach Wade Phillips went to the middle ground in a decision on how to handle Thursday's final exhibition game: at home against Miami.

Some first-teamers will play.
Phillips would not say which starters will be on the field. Quarterback Tony Romo , defensive end Marcus Spears , inside linebacker Keith Brooking and strong safety Gerald Sensabaugh will not play.

``In a a few cases (starters) will play some,'' Phillips said. ``We will play a lot of guys in this ballgame that I think are going to make a difference in our team and also guys who are on the border of making or not making the team.''

Stephen McGee, the No. 3 quarterback, will start and play most of the game.

In four exhibitons, the Cowboys have been outscored 20-13 with the first-teamers on the field.
