The video shows adults. Someone should have stepped in. Teaching little kids violence and hate is the way to fix problems will not end well.

The video wont play for me so I'm just going off the article. They say it is teenagers or possibly adults. So it sounds like it was probably just teenagers.

Kids are cruel and awful.

In the name of moral ambiguity though, let's say there were adults there, egging them on. How much different is that than putting kids in sports like football or wrestling or whatever where violence is preached? (not that I have the slightest problem with that) I mean is there really any way to eloquently explain why we're ok with one and not the other?

I believe there is a difference. In sports there are rules and you at least have some idea what is happening. Jumping a kid and trying to hurt her at a park is very different in my mind.

Isn't that the funny thing though?

We put some gloves on these girls and make a few rules about where they're allowed to hit each other and suddenly we can egg them on all we want - it's just a couple kids learning to box/mma.

But in this context it disgusts us.

If you choose to be a wrestler or MMA fighter that is very different then sitting on a park bench and having adults or teenagers forcing a person to attack you.

From the pictures it doesn't look like these girls were forced to do anything. Egged on, yes. Coerced maybe. But You can say the same thing about any sport.

Fair enough points. I wonder if the little kid in the white coat didn't attack if she would have faced repercussions from those that wanted them to fight. A beat down from older siblings or parents. Neither kid seemed particularly interested in fighting each other.

Beats me.

I just think about that stuff sometimes.

Like, we will get all up in arms about the pussification of football, because we are *gasp* trying to keep players from getting their brains knocked sill and going all retarded later in life.

And even now, we can look back on things we did just normally as a society 100 years ago and say damn, we were barbaric. Go back further, gladiators? Damn we were fucked up.

And I'm sure 100 years from now we'll look back on things like football maybe and boxing and mma and be semi-disgusted with ourselves for being so invested in that kind of violent barbarism, too. But right now we're pretty much good with it.

You wanna fight? We could stream it and donate the proceeds to some gay charity.

There is no monetary gain to be had. No big sponsors whose wallets will be hit if the fight breaks up or doesn't take place. That's why.

So, encouraging 10 year olds to fight in the street is the same as signing them up for football. k

And, I don't know many 10 year olds in MMA training.
