IRVING – Morris Claiborne returned to practice Monday for the first time since jamming his left knee Aug. 6 and says he will be prepared to play in the Dallas Cowboys’ Sept. 8 season opener against the New York Giants.

“I feel way better than I did last week,” he said. “..I know I will be ready for Week 1.”

The second-year cornerback did limited work Monday, running and cutting on the side. But he has yet to play in the preseason, and he’s not certain whether he will get any snaps Thursday in the final exhibition against Houston.

“I don’t feel like the decision is up to me,” he said. “I’m just doing what the training staff has me doing. I’m not trying to have any setbacks.

“I am just following their directions…I don’t want to tweak something and then be sitting here talking about whether I’m going to be ready for Week 1 all over again.”
