He has the awareness to use his length in passing lanes, and he's effective hanging back to monitor scrambling quarterbacks. Irving is an adequate run defender at the point due to inconsistent pad level against double-teams, which allows him to get moved around with ease. He's most effective as a run blitzer stunting to adjacent gaps.
