IRVING —

Most running backs feel that the more carries they get, the more they can get into the rhythm of the game.

Darren McFadden is no different and doesn’t feel like he’s shown all that he’s capable of in his short time with the Cowboys.

“You’ve seen glimpses of me here and there, but I haven’t gotten a chance to go out there and do everything I think I’m capable of doing.” McFadden said.

McFadden isn’t disgruntled about his carries, and understands that opportunities are limited with the Cowboys’ committee approach to the running game. Joseph Randle is going to get his share of carries, and so did Lance Dunbar.

Now, Christine Michael is expected to join the mix more with Dunbar out.

As coach Jason Garrett said, “That’s one of the challenges we have with everybody on offense. Receivers are probably better the more they’re targeted, runners are certainly better the more they carry it. … But that’s one of the things we think is good about our offense. We have a lot of different guys who are worthy of opportunities and worthy of touches, and guys have to take advantage of their opportunities when they get them.”

McFadden knows that he can do much more than he has. For now, he has rushed for only 113 yards on 32 carries, averaging 3.5 yards a carry. The longest run has been a 14-yarder last week against the Saints, and he’s scored one TD in Week 3 against Atlanta.

McFadden also has three catches for 40 yards.

“Whenever they call my number, I’m going to be ready,” McFadden said. “Whether it’s the first play of the game, or the last play of the game, I’m going to be ready whenever it is called.”

Returning kickoffs could be another way for McFadden to get the ball in his hands with Dunbar having season-ending knee surgery. He has gotten reps back there along with rookie Lucky Whitehead.

Garrett wasn’t ready to publicly announce who would return kickoffs on Friday, but McFadden certainly wouldn’t mind that role.

“I returned kicks in school, I returned kicks a few times here in the league, so it’s something I’m used to and comfortable with,” McFadden said. “Anytime I can get the ball in my hands, I’m all for it.”

This reminds me of when I was like 14 years old and my brother was 11 years old. I'd be beating the shit out of him, then I'd get him in a headlock, or pin him on the ground. There was always the part where he was all "oh, you want me to really fight now?".

Kind of implying that he wasn't a weak bitch, he just wasn't really trying to fight.

McFadden is garbage. I'm sure he'll break a long TD pretty soon, but whatever.

He's one of those players that are really really good that our coaches are holding back. Just like the Raiders coaches held back.
