This is what I have

Poe is a possibility after a trade down. I think his problems are more bad technique than a guy who will quit of you. I think if he's drafted the Cowboys use him to spell Ratliff at NT, and he'll get a lot of snaps. No one I talk to at the Ranch is interested in moving Ratliff to DE. What makes Ratliff special is his quickness off the snap against slower offensive guards and centers. To play him against quicker footed tackles takes away what he does best. The big concern with Ratliff is keeping him rested enough so he can be there for you the 4th quarter.

2nd TE - Love Fleener. He plays more splits rather than an inline guy. It's hard to grade John Phillips last year. Before his injury he was well on his way to beating Bennett for the 2nd TE job. Last year was a tough year, coming off a major injury and they they had him playing more F-back stuff because Bennett couldn't do anything other than be an inline guy. That's not ideally what you want out of your 2nd TE. There's a lot of myths out there about what a great blocking TE Marty B was. The bottom line is you expected more out of a player that big and that athletic.

Why do players move up late in the draft process when they haven't played a game in 4 months?
Early in the process a regional scout puts a report and grade on a player he scouted in his region. Then maybe Ciskowski gives a 2nd evaluation. Then every one gets together in a room and they collectively compare all players together. Maybe the initial scout though a guy like Cox was worth a late 1st grade, but then when everyone sits down in a room and compares him against other players in the draft from all over the country at his position everyone realizes he's actually the best defensive linemen in the class.

I kept a lot of friends here at the Ranch and never lost touch, so it's good to be back. I went to HR to fill out some paperwork and Ciskowski saw me in the hall and gave me a bear hug.

I love Derek Wolfe in the 2nd round, if he doesn't go late 1st.

Ingram - I really like Courtney Upshaw better as an outside point of attack guy. You don't see Ingram do enough attacking a at the point of attack. You might look for him to go to Arizona at 13.

Jax - Richardson or Blackmon, and if they arent there they want to move down badly.

I think the Cowboys are doing the smart thing with Spencer -- keep him around another year, but don't lock him up long term. The problem with Spencer is you see the flashes, but he doesn't do it every game. I was taught early as a scout that when you see a player do something once you should see him do it a lot of times, and you don't see that with Spencer.

TY Hilton - Throwing his name out there, returner and slot WR, came in for a visit. Ran a 4.34. Watch him. You heard it here first.

I was pretty shocked at how much Doug Free regressed last year. I'm hoping getting him in a weight room for an entire offseason will help shore up his sloppy technique and functional strength.

DeCastro is one of the cleaner players in the draft. I think center is the 2nd most important position on the OL besides LT making. I think Callahan is a good coach. I know him pretty well. I was at Green Bay he was right up the road at UW, and we were both at Philly at the same time.

I really like Broyles with one of the 4th round picks, but someone might reach for him in the 3rd. It was so dangerous at OU with Landry hitting him on the move. I would take Broyles over Adams, Broyles is a better WR.

They like the young WRs on their roster. Radaway would have made the team last year if not for the injury, and they wanted to activate Andre Holmes and play him last year but he got a hamstring injury. They aren't as concerned about finding a slot WR, because they like Miles Austin in the slot.

The lack of 3-4 DE talent really showed on this team last year in those Philly games, when they kept letting the Eagles runners turn the corner on them.

Kirkpatrick Alabama - Great press CB. I asked people if they would look at him as a FS, and they said he's strictly a CB. They've done a lot of background work on his personal, and even went to his hometown to look around. They've done their homework on him.

Hightower - He'll be purely a 3-4 ILB thumper who gets to the football.

Brockers - Base 3-4 DE who plays DT in nickel. 322 lbs. base end, plays well on the move. Rotated in and out at LSU. LSU just rotates 7 or 8 guys every game, that's just what they do. If he played at Mississippi St. he never comes off the field.

I love Kuechley - he goes to KC or Seattle, his film never changes. There was never an up or down.

Barron vs. Cox? - If it's a coinflip, I take the DE. I do have questions about his coverage ability. If you can prove to me that Barron will be a significant upgrade in coverage over what they have, I'm fine with that.

Kendall Wright - Love him. Plays at all level on the field.

Whoever Dallas doesn't take is probably who Philly takes at #15.

Great read. Thanks for posting.

I honestly don't see how we can afford to not go DE in round 1.

Seriously, it's the most thrown together position on the team.

Spears, former first round underachiever.
Coleman, a non-contributing journeyman.
Lissemore, I'm a fan, but a low drafted overachiever.
Hatcher, a sometimes pass rusher soft against the run.

We don't have a DE we can keep on the field al three downs.

Even if Brockers is the only guy still there?

I want DE more than anything else but I don't know if the value is going to be there at 14.
