Jason Hatcher not fined for hit on Eli Manning

IRVING, Texas -- Defensive end Jason Hatcher was not stuck with the same fate as teammate Tyron Smith when it came to receiving a letter from the NFL regarding a fine for a play in the Cowboys’ season-opening win against the New York Giants.
Hatcher was flagged for a roughing-the-passer penalty in the fourth quarter when he hit Eli Manning near the helmet, but the league did not dock him $15,750 for it. Given the way the league protects the quarterbacks, it’s a little surprising Hatcher did not have a FedEx package in his locker from Park Avenue.
“When I saw it on film I didn’t think I would get fined, but you never know,” Hatcher said. “I hit him in the chest and I sort of slid up.”
Smith was fined $15,750 for his horse-collar tackle of Giants linebacker Michael Boley on an interception return.
