Who am I?
I trace my roots to the 1971 opening of my first location in Seattle’s Pike
Place Market.
Aman who later became my CEO, impressed by Italian espresso bars in
1983, got the idea to build a similar coffeehouse. I served my first caffe latte
the next year.
By 1988, I offered full health benefits to both full-time and part-time
workers. I’m still known for progressive policies. Today, I boast 31,000-plus

My name evokes the first mate in Moby Dick. My logo features a siren.
