Reports: Cowboys' Randy Gregory out of rehab; return unknown

Todd Archer
ESPN Staff Writer

FRISCO, Texas -- Suspended Dallas Cowboys defensive end Randy Gregory is out of rehab, according to ESPN's Field Yates and multiple reports.

The Cowboys moved him from the reserve/did not report list to the reserve/suspended list Monday. He will be eligible to be around the team as he serves the rest of his suspension.

Gregory remains suspended for three more games, and he also faces another 10-game suspension that will eventually be subject to an appeal.

He has not been around the team since the offseason. He was placed on the reserve/did not report list at the start of training camp

Cowboys owner/general manager Jerry Jones said Sunday that a date hasn't been set for Gregory's appeal.

Jones did not want to get into whether Gregory would play this season.

"I don't want to be presumptuous," Jones said. "I don't want to be anything. I just want him to ... I know that he's had a lot of good care. And he's been very conscientious about how he has approached this period of time when he's been in his rehab. He's been very conscientious, and so again it's not appropriate for me to talk. I wouldn't dare influence what is decided. They've got all the data, got all of his activity, and it's under league and their supervision in that way. So that's it."

At the 2015 NFL scouting combine, Gregory tested positive for marijuana, which put him in the league's drug program. Considered a first-round prospect out of Nebraska, he fell to the second round, where the Cowboys selected him with the 60th overall pick
