The Cowboys worked out cornerback Bryan McCann on Thursday but they have determined they won’t sign him, a source said. Management has no immediate plans to bring anyone else in but it is discussing its options.
McCann, 25, is a former member of the team who last played for Oakland before being cut by the Raiders in early September.
After they released cornerback LeQuan Lewis earlier this week, the Cowboys were looking for a replacement who could be a contributor on special teams. In his stint with Dallas, which lasted almost 17 months, McCann returned kickoffs and punts. But the former undrafted free agent out of SMU was eventually cut in September 2011, when Dallas signed receiver Laurent Robinson for the second and final time.
After taking another look at McCann more than a year later, the Cowboys decided they didn’t want him back.
