Cowboys will have 18 free agents to make decisions on this off-season

IRVING — Cowboys owner and general manager Jerry Jones has many decisions to make this off-season, including what to do with the team’s 18 free agents.

The Cowboys have 15 unrestricted free agents and three restricted free agents this off-season. Heading the unrestricted free agent list for the Cowboys is outside linebacker Anthony Spencer, who had the best season of his career this year.

Here’s a look at the team’s 18 free agents:

Victor Butler; LB; Never really developed into an all-around linebacker and struggled against the run

Michael Coe; CB; He showed some skill but can’t there will be better options for depth at CB

Kenyon Coleman; DE; He’s solid against the run but doesn’t give the Cowboys the pass-rush they need up front

#Phil Costa; C; Injured most of the season, Costa began the year as the Cowboys’ starter

Derrick Dockery; OL; Garland native was just filling a hole and he’s about to hit the finish line of his career

Eric Frampton; S; Was starting late in the season and could provide roster depth because of his special teams ability

Mike Jenkins; CB; Added value late in season by playing more at inside cornerback but can’t see 2008 first-round pick back unless he’s a bargain (and I don’t think he will be)

Felix Jones; RB; This will likely be the end of the road for the 2008 first-round draft pick who never lived up to billing

L.P. Ladouceur; LS; He won’t be expensive to re-sign and he’s very good at what he does

#Danny McCray; S; Struggled at times in expanded defensive role but still a standout special teams contributor

Brian Moorman; P; Was a solid fill-in for injured starting punter Chris Jones, but not likely a re-sign

Kevin Ogletree; WR; Cowboys brought him back on a one-year deal and he never took advantage of his opportunity as the team’s third receiver — again

Charlie Peprah; S; Could be a nice veteran to have on the roster behind young safety Barry Church

John Phillips; TE; Started losing playing time late in season as rookie TE James Hanna emerged

Brady Poppinga; LB; ‘Everybody knows Batman,’ but more for his talk than his play

#Brian Schaefering; DL; Could provide depth up front and add some experience

Ernie Sims; LB; Team trusted him enough to be defensive play-caller late in season but not a priority to re-sign with return of Sean Lee, Bruce Carter

Anthony Spencer; LB; Cowboys used their franchise tag on him a year ago and could do the same again

Phillips and Butler walk will officially close the book on that abomination known as the 2009 draft.

The 2008 first round dynamic duo of Jenkins and Jones started with hope but those hopes quickly crashed and burnt to the ground.

Considering they all walk and If they choose not to franchise Spencer that will leave 4 players left out of the 32 players selected from the 2007-2010 drafts.

The 4 that will remain are Free,Scandrick,Lee, and Bryant.
