Check out the strange game Jason Garrett plays with Dak Prescott at Cowboys camp
By Jon Machota

OXNARD, Calif. -- The post-practice throwing game between Dak Prescott and Jason Garrett added a new element Tuesday.

After the usual game that lasted for about 10 minutes, the Cowboys head coach and the rookie QB each attempted to hit the star on Jerry Jones' midfield observation tower.

Ever since Kellen Moore went down with a broken right fibula on Aug. 2, Garrett and Prescott have been playing catch after practice.

It usually starts about 15 yards apart and expands to around 25. But there's a little more to it. There's a scoring system.

"It's just a game of catch that Dak and I play," Garrett said. "[Quarterbacks] have been playing that game for a long, long time. If you hit a guy in the face, you get two points. If you hit a guy in the torso, you get one. And you play to 11, 15 or 21.

"It's a way to compete a little bit, but it's also a way to refine some of your skills. I've been cooling down in practice playing that game for 25 years."

Who's winning?

"Oh, I don't think we need to talk about that," Garrett said. "It's much more process-oriented, we don't need to get into the results."

After Monday's practice, Prescott laughed a few times in the middle of the session because it appeared that Garrett might be changing the score in his favor.

"We're just two guys playing catch," Prescott said. "Just creating good habits for the most part and just a little competition throwing there.

"He's still got it."
