It was mostly ugly, not much else can be said to describe it. The offense was painfully bad at times, and the defense while they did pitch a shutout and come up with a couple of picks was pretty average. ST had all sorts of penalty problems.

1) There were some players who I thought did well. Guys like Church, Spears, Bass and Albright really stood out. Hamilton looks very interesting. Very bad luck Wilbur busted his thumb, he definitely has the look of a potential starting calibar 3-4 OLB down the road.

2) Offensively, it was poor for the most part but I did think Arkin played decently at C, especially considering it was his first game ever there. I didnt see him get crushed back into the pocket and while he did miss an assignment or two and had a holding penalty, those are things that reps and good coaching can help eliminate. After hearing for days how bad the shotgun snaps were, he didnt have a single bad snap that I saw. Further, he didnt seem to have that "delayed" snap thing that Costa always seems to have going. I'm not saying he should start this year, but I think he's an interesting guy who could develop. Definitely want to see more. I also thought T Smith and Parnell looked really good. Free has the huge contract, but I kinda wonder how long his leash is, especially if Parnell continues to develop and improve.

3) The special team penalties have got to stop, but the kick and punt cover teams were outstanding.

4) There was alot of suckness overall, but two guys guys I thought played particularly poor: Dockery & Free (it wasnt that he was awful so much, but was disappointed he didnt get more push in the run game). After all the positive talk over Dockery, he looked horrendous to me.

5) There were quite a few guys I thought werent good or bad, just rather indifferent showing. Guys like Bernadeau, Crawford, Brent etc etc

6) Barring a surprise game or two now, I think McGee's time in Dallas is over. Good kid, works hard by all accounts. But we have alot of really good developmental young guys and McGee will be a UFA after this year anyway. I probably wouldnt keep him for another year at the expense of one of those younger guys now.

7) I do think we have exceptional talent & depth at LB and eventually at CB (once Claiborne and Jenkins are healthy). Church and Sensabaugh both looked good last night. I think we have a strong rotation on the DL.

Not much else I can say, pretty much everyone has already chimed in.

Most interesting thing with Crawford was he lined up all over.

Looks like a player for us without question.

The pressure that Wilber had he bent his body around the tackle like ware does, I thought that was interesting.

Listening to talking cowboys today they mentioned that livings won even practice this week. That is disappointing to hear. He needs to get out there.

Really wan to see Claiborne get healthy and playthe rest of the preseason. He should play a lot along with Crawford, Brent, Carter, butler and Johnson.

The team had a captains meeting I guess I read today and mcray is part of that with lee, ware, witten and romo. So mcray is going to be here.

I thought Albright and Hanna were the two players that really played well last night. Look like they can both get on the field in real games and help us right away on special teams and in packages with the regulars.

Holmes made some nice plays but on the post game rocket Ismail pointed out how he was sloppy at the end because he was tired, said he still looks out of shape. Which leads me to, A how is that possible and B he should get better and better each week.

During the game, it's easy to get down on the team. Get pissed and stuff, but it was the first preseason game. Tons of quality players out with injuries.

Get healthy by week 3 of the preseason, do something positive on offense, then we'll all feel a little better heading into that game with the Giants.

One thing that puzzled me, though. I'm not a coach or a GM, but the plan last night really irked me. I would have thrown A LOT more to the young WRS. Instead they ran that fat RB or FB it seemed like 20 times.

Whats up with that? Now we know he's not a good runner, but not much else about the WRs battling for the 3 spot.

Kyle Orton looks a little like Clint Longley.

Cole Beasley looks like a little Craig Morton.

My guess is they want to be a more physical team and have more consistent success running the football. Its been a problem for a few seasons now. And the only way to becomes that type of team is to practice it.
