Day After Thoughts- More Failure

Rack up another failed season for Mr Continuity Jerry Jones. His way has proven to be better than all other 31 teams as he has a 30 year track record now of the most consistent results the league (or any other sport) has ever seen.

Yesterday was just another miserable performance in almost every way (save for maybe 3 or 4 players). The result serves the team well because draft position was improved, but they went into the game insisting that winning mattered, played most of the starters and still got their asses whipped by a team with nothing to play for themselves. This was the 3rd loss this season to a team with a losing record and if not for Minnesota's remarkable December it would be 4.

1) Really liked Brian Schottenheimer and wanted him to the guy, but it's starting to become obvious that he isn't. Yes, the offense as a whole improved some this year and I do like a lot of the assistants he hired on that side of the ball. But the things that have plagued this franchise for this entire century were still evident. Losses and uninspiring performances, mistake and penalty prone efforts, poor redzone TD % horrendous tackling and shoddy blocking at times plus somewhat puzzling in game decisions and ultimately, another losing season. I'm sure Jones will give him another season, but IMO they should seriously consider other options. Jones sat on his ass while far more qualified candidates went elsewhere, never even speaking with (let alone interviewing) Jim Harbaugh, Mike Vrabel, Ben Johnson or even Liam Coen. Harbaugh has back to back playoff seasons with an injury ravaged Chargers team and the other 3 are all viable coach of the year candidates who got far more from their teams than the coach they replaced.

2) Jones claimed after the game that this would be an offseason of massive change. I'm not sure what that means to him as the only change that would matter is him removing himself and Spawn 100% from the FO and the day to day running of the organization. Real football people need to come in and completely change the entire culture. I don't know if he would be successful, but asking Troy Aikman to come in and making him President of FO (or whatever they want to call it) is really the only thing that would promote "massive change". It's a complete fucking disgrace that Aikman is now engaged in helping ANOTHER organization do just this (and may well result in him running that organization). Jerry has tried "his way" for three decades and has never come close to winning a championship. Hell he can't even get them past the divisional round of the playoffs. If not Troy then fine, find another qualified individual. But he needs to step aside once and for all.

3) They already seem to be waffling on the most obvious change needed (other than #2) in not wanting to get rid of this massive dipshit Eberflus. There is not one second that needs to be wasted on "evaluation" of him and his failure. His scheme is the worst in the league and universally criticized as massively flawed. The Cowboys set franchise records almost across the board for defensive futility. Schottenheimer said it might be "10-12 days before any decisions are made"...WHY? WTF? Have they not learned that sitting on their ass while the rest of the league works is a bad thing?

4) Horrendous effort in almost all areas yesterday. This clown franchise gave up 71 pts in two games against one of the worst offensive teams in the league, and the two QB's they faced were a washed up shrimp and a rookie. Defensively they must have missed 20 or more tackles. They blew coverages left and right. What makes it worse is they said they were going to TRY AND WIN THE GAME. Instead they got embarrassed.

5) The 60 million QB generated no touchdowns in a half of play. The only TD we did score was the result of a near length of the field TD return by Turpin, followed by a nice TD run from rookie Jaydon Blue. Not what's expected by the guy who makes the most money in the league at his position and stressed that he needed to play this meaningless game against a really bad team.

6) Jaydon Blue had a really nice day and it could have (and probably should have) been a monster day. He ended with 64 yds on 16 carries with a nice TD run thrown in. He showed nice patience and some real explosiveness, and more importantly didnt fumble the ball or noticeably miss any pass block assignments. But his big day was ruined in the 2nd half when for whatever reason the OL couldnt block anything against one of the worst rush defenses in the league. Blue got 5 second half carries that went for -3, -3, -3, -3 and finally 0 yards. 5 carries for -12 yards. Terrible effort by an OL against the team that finished 2nd worst in the league v the run. Fellow rookie Phil Mafah showed well too on some carries, both have upside for the future. If they can keep J Williams, RB appears set.

7) They wasted a career day defensively for Jadaveon Clowney. 3 sacks, 4 TFL's, a batted down pass and a recovered fumble. Hopefully they re-sign him, he deserves to be back. For the season he led the team with 8 1/2 sacks and added another 7 run tackles for loss, as well as 4 passes defensed. This despite only playing 13 games and having no training camp or preseason. His all out effort was nice to watch.

8) Guys I never want to see on the field for the Cowboys again- Hooker, Dono Wilson, Murray, Steele (at least he tries hard, but he sucks beyond belief as a pass protector and makes way too much money), Dante Fowler, Trikweze Bridges and Sam Williams. Honestly I really don't want to see 4 either, but we all know that has zero chance of happening.

9) They speak of culture and accountability, but Kenneth Murray has done nothing but suck dick since day one. He had MAYBE one or two decent games all year and probably has a 3 or 4 hour continuous tape of bad plays from the season. What happens yesterday? After missing numerous tackles he wiped out what would have been a 3rd and eternity with a dumbshit late hit out of bounds, and of course the Giants ended up a TD to conclude a season long 96 yard drive. While he was benched in the 2nd half they did leave him on the field for the remainder of that end of the first half drive AFTER this idiot play. Any other coach would have ripped him a new one and he probably would have been kicked off the field with where we are in the season for it. Not this HC or staff though.

10) Consistency. We lost the turnover battle, time of possession and penalty numbers, AGAIN.

11) Pickens and Lamb combined for two receptions and only 4 total targets. What was the purpose for playing them any? Why risk it?

12) Cowboys season story in one play, a Prescott clusterfuck keystone cops fumble in the 1st half, which of course the Giants recovered and scored a few plays later.

13) Need to pull for a Packers loss this weekend, if they do we have picks 12 and 20 in the first round. If they win that pick will likely drop.

Ultimately it's just a circus franchise run by an incredibly stupid and stubborn drunk. He's a complete failure in every way that a fan cares about and until he is out of the picture we are doomed to never win anything. His way doesn't work and never has, and he's the only person in the world that doesn't see it or understand it.

He is above Campo on the coaching hire list but you can best believe the locker room knows he is nothing but a Jerry stooge. There is still laughter in 31 other FOs about the hire.

2) Jones claimed after the game that this would be an offseason of massive change.
If talking lead to championships Dallas would be working on their 30th straight Lombardi right now. Jerry leads all owners on gas emitted. I just want him gone. How doesn't matter.

They didn't bother to get off the bus.

He is the fans worst nightmare. He is perfect for Jerry. Good enough to keep the team relevant, keep Jerry's prune face on prime time TV, and sell jerseys. Not good enough to lead the team anywhere that matters for a quarter of the salary cap.

9) They speak of culture and accountability
Is there anyone with a triple digit IQ that bought this shit? The whole Diggs thing was a monument to this team's lack of winning culture. He was kept around because he was a sunk cost that el cheapo didn't want to pay to play elsewhere.

10) Consistency.
Consistently mediocre is their moto.

Another year of fandom flushed.
