When Hakeem Nicks went down with a broken foot during the Giants' second OTA in late May, he vowed he would be back in time for the start of training camp.
That apparently won't happen.
Today, Victor Cruz said he saw Nicks Wednesday night at the ESPYs and Nicks told him he expects to be ready for the team's opener against the Dallas Cowboys on Sept. 5 -- and not when players report for training camp on July 27.
"He looks good. He's walking again on his own so that's definitely a good sign," Cruz said at the Queens Theatre at a Time Warner Cable event to promote his memoir "Victor Cruz: Out of the Blue," which is schedule to be released July 17. "He told me he'll be ready and he told me he'll take training camp to continue rehabbing and continue to get his foot back right, but I definitely expect him to be ready by game one."
"I hope to have him back. We'll need all our horses against Dallas. They're the third best team in the NFC based on Midswats Pre-Training Camp NFC Power Rankings, and that guy really knows what he's talking about. Unlike glorydaysrback, who's a collosal douchebag."
Nicks' original diagnosis was 12 weeks, which meant he was due to return August 17. That is still a possibility, but his prediction of the start of training camp isn't.
