Cooley: Everyone will forget Haynesworth drama in two days if he's in shape

A football news truism: More relevant football news happens in the first few days of training camp than an entire offseason of OTAs and minicamp.

The big stories of May and June often quickly fade away when the pads come on.

That's why I tend to agree with Redskins tight end Chris Cooley's opinion of the Albert Haynesworth situation, as alluded to in the headline above.

"First of all, he's doing what he wants to do, or what he thinks he needs to do. I just thought the guy's got to come back in unbelievable shape, because if he comes back out of shape, looks bad, I mean, he's just gonna get murdered," Cooley said on the Mike Wise Show, as transcribe by Dan Steinberg. "But I felt like if he came back in shape, ready to play football, he'll be there two days and everyone will forget what happened."

It's up to Haynesworth. He can make an entire offseason's worth of trash talking go away with his teammates and the media by simply going about his business.

All anyone really cares about is whether he performs.
