I've always thought there were three grades for the Melsy. 1) The initial report card to crown our winner. 2) A look back at the value of the selections in terms of where the players were actually picked. 3) Most importantly, a review 3 or 4 years later to see what kind of players they actually turned out to be.

With the 2011 draft in the books we can now move on to the value phase. The NFL teams have now set the draft board with their selections. Who got the best bargains?

The grading is simple. You get a plus or minus grade assigned to each pick. Plus, if you selected a player after he actually went in the draft. Minus, if you selected a player before he went in the draft. The number included in the grade was the separation between the two. So, for example, a player picked 12th in the Melsy who actually gets selected 8th in the draft earns that GM a plus 4 grade. If you pick him 8th and he ends up going 12th, that's a minus 4 grade.

We do that for each pick and then tally up the score for the class.

The object here is to finish with a plus grade. Since I've been doing this, it rarely happens. Only a handful each year. If you accomplished it this year, well done. It's not easy to do.

I've included in the value scoring where that GM finished in our report card. It's in italics.

There were 254 players selected in the 2011 draft. If one of your players wasn't picked, they were assigned the 255th overall selection and they'll be noted as undrafted with red font.

With that said, I give you your value scores for the 2011 Mel Kiper Jr. Invitational. Don't blame me. Blame the NFL decision makers.

One note - I've left out the no shows. To the best of my recollection.
