    TAG! youre it - Spencer

110% agreed. Trade or sign to a long-term, semi-reasonable contract are much better options than renting him at $10M for another year.

    TAG! youre it - Spencer

Do not agree, paying him $10M for 1 year is crazy stupid. Either move on, or get him to sign a much more reasonable contract. Paying him franchise money and letting him leave next year is the dumbest option available IMO. If Spencer was the difference in whether or not we were a championship...

We're sacrificing the future with cap restructures

I'd take Austin and a new DT, S, or G vs the new WR we drafted to replace Austin and no DT, S, or G. It took Austin 3 1/2 seasons to break out. We don't have that kind of time waiting on the new magical UDFA you are counting on.

We're sacrificing the future with cap restructures

always an option but that's another position not getting addressed. Said it before, HOPE and LUCK can not be our personnel strategy. UDFA's should be a bonus not a plan.

We're sacrificing the future with cap restructures

if you think Dwayne Harris can or that the Free Agent you sign for $592k can, I would disagree.

We're sacrificing the future with cap restructures

necessary? not sure. Nice to have? Yes. Miles, if healthy (a big if I know) is a valuable weapon for Romo and makes Dez and Witten less likley to be doubled.

I get what mb4 is saying but Bob do you really think you can replace Miles with just $592k ?

We're sacrificing the future with cap restructures

last time, then I give up. before restructuring, here are the cap numbers for Miles Austin: 2013 base: $6,732,000 + 1,570,000 pro-rated bonus = $8,302,000 cap hit actual/money paid out by Jerry $6,732,000 over 17 weeks 2014 base: $5,500,000 + 1,570,000 pro-rated bonus = $7,070,000 cap...

Per Fisher, Cowboys to re-sign Spencer

david's argument reeks of last year..Woicik, Callahan, and Jerome Henderson will coach these guys up. All is well. Kiffin just came off coaching statistically the worst USC defense in their history. He's older than dirt and he's responsible for a disaster of a son. He deserves some serious...

The problems of the 2009 draft

Yes the 2009 draft is the smoking gun on how bad a GM Jerry is. The Zone (and dbair's) response: Ignore glaring facts.

Per Fisher, Cowboys to re-sign Spencer

Holy crap but I'm with dbair. Spencer was probably our best defensive player (yes it was a contract year) and it's one less hole, one less unknown. Hopefully, it's something close to the deal Ahmad Brooks got last year.

Kiffin wants Cowboys to study Seahawks defense

good article. the games I watched and paid attention, they ran a pretty standard 4-3. the fact that Clemons stood up doesn't change much IMO. Peppers stands up from time to time in the Bears 4-3 scheme. The two DT's were usually over the guard and their DE's were big.

Kiffin wants Cowboys to study Seahawks defense

theebs, I've sat through like 4 seminars where Carroll talked about his defense and how he uses the Tampa 2 scheme. Like all defenses (or offenses), coaches put their own spin on it. They would drop the DE's into Zone coverage so they bascially look like stand up 3-4 OLB's. He had 4 great LB's...

Kiffin wants Cowboys to study Seahawks defense

Carroll ran the 4-3 his entire time at SC and is a self-admitted Kiffin disciple. ??

Kiffin wants Cowboys to study Seahawks defense

Agreed. We just have so many holes and limited resources (6 picks and being over the cap) this year. I fear we are going to go cheap at way too many positions this year.

Kiffin wants Cowboys to study Seahawks defense

True, but forcing a square peg(Albright) into a round hole (Tampa 2 OLB) is a horrible strategy. It's one thing if he has to play there due to injuries but to go into the season with that as the plan (hopefully it isn't) is the kind of decision that keeps this franchise floating around 500.
