Better get that linebacker room fixed asap. HUGE hole in defense right now. Better sign a quality FA and there are a few still out there. Also going to have to draft one early. I predict we will trade back on one or both of our first rounders to pick up additional picks in 2nd round. I just don’t see us not making a move to get more picks.

They will.

Overshown being healthy and having an entire offseason to workout etc etc will be a potential plus. If he's 80% of what he was in 2024 he's a solid player at minimum. Will be interesting to see what the new staff thinks of Shemar James, who showed some real flashes at times last yr as a rookie.

My guess is we'll see one veteran and at least one draft pick (maybe two) used on the LB position.

I've been wanting to play this course for years.

Not surprisingly, I'd rather play the course than attend a game at the shithole stadium.

A vet addition to the LB room like Brooks or Al Shair would lessen the pressure of being pigeonholed into a need a 1st rd LB home run mentality on draft day imo.

But then again , I still hope they take one LB and one edge with the 2 1st rd picks.

Hopefully, Hennessy is just as good as Hoffman who was a decent spot starter. Gotta admit, I kinda liked Hoffman's nasty attitude.
I think Adams and Riley have earned the benefit of the doubt based on what they did this past yr with us and their previous reps elsewhere. For whatever reason they didn't seem all that interested in keeping him.

Like you, I really liked his nasty attitude on the field.

That said Hennessy has starting experience and can backup at all 3 interior OL spots, like Hoffman. They clearly preferred him to Hoffman so I think we'll be in good shape. He was a 3rd rd pick originally so he has some ability.

Fair enough. Do you also share full confidence in Riley/Adams transforming Guyton into being a more than serviceable LT as well? His season ending performance was not too good and I pondered a bridge vet such as GB's Walker whom Carolina signed for what I thought was a very reasonable 10 mil.

And with Decker and the Lions falling out over salary might that be another option in your opinion? Or are all the eggs in the Guyton egg basket? I'm just a little uneasy about that overall tackle room of Steele, Guyton and Thomas whom all are not great pass blockers in a passing league. Just my opinion.
I guess its an ultimate In Riley We Trust situation tbh.

Big yr for Guyton for sure.

He's been up and down, but there is some good with him it's not been all bad. Needs more consistency and I think (hope) he has worked to change his body more. He's obviously very athletic but at least to me he doesnt appear all that "sculpted" ala Tyron Smith.

Yeah, I hope a big 3rd year leap as well. Because I would hate for it to be a mid season or before scenario in which he gets benched for Tyler Smith or his injury problems arise again.
