Tidbit embedded on Mike Pettine being asked to join the staff, but he decided to remain retired. Has been invited down to attend meetings etc etc with the staff.

Good read overall.

This is via PFF, which has flaws when rating some players and positions. But it's a detailed list of all the better free agents available overall.

I would think we'd see 2-3 new starters on D from this list.

offseason suggestion: cowboys need more from their TE's bc who really thinks that ferg is a game changer anymore? schoon is a flop and that guy with two-names is ok, but keep bringing in new blood

It's not a bad idea (some have floated a Pickens for Crosby trade scenario) but Crosby does have the knee thing going on that needs to be considered, whereas Pickens is younger and in perfect health.

Obviously we are somewhat limited in picks currently and they aren't going to use either 1st on a TE, but I absolutely won't be surprised if a later pick is used on the TE position. Maybe even a middle round pick if they make a trade or two and add some other draft capital.

hawkins and gibbens are better playerse than what the team has now at Safety/LB

chaisson played VERY well in NE and who knows if he finally found his LSU talent... but he brings 0 run support for a guy who might see a nice pay bump

Interesting. Doesnt mean we'll free up all of it, but could get us to a pretty good spot and certainly enough to keep Pickens/Williams while still getting 2-3 or so quality defensive players too.
