This draft is so typical of this team

We go into the draft with glaring needs at OL and DL.

Other needs as well, obviously.... but thats where most of our problems lie. We can't keep Romo upright. We can't convert on short yardage situations. We have a lot of age on the defensive line, etc.

Four rounds deep into this draft and what do we have?

A new center! :towel

A receiving TE.

A receiver.

A project safety from a small school with one year playing experience.

And an undersized cornerback (from a small school).

WE CONTINUE TO BUILD THIS TEAM FROM THE OUTSIDE IN.

God I came into this draft so excited that we were going to address the trenches. Give Kiffin some new toys on his DL.

My hopes were anchored by the selection of Frederick. I never would've guessed Jerry would've taken a center in round one. I really thought this year would be different.

Since 2006 we've drafted 1. ONE. WON. FUCKING ONE DL in the top three rounds of the draft.

I don't want to be negative. I want to be excited about these guys. And I do know that I can make myself like Pablo Excobar and the receiver. But I detest the last two selections. And I detest that we're not doing anything to make this team stronger.

We haven't done anything to address our biggest needs coming into the offseason, outside of Frederick.

I can rant.

I'm sorry.

I'm just frustrated.

This team frustrates me.

Still two more picks... hope we get some big bodies.

...

Don't blame you, man. We did need a S, but this CB pick is frustrating. I'm for drafting BPA and not need, but this late it gets harder to differentiate the player rankings anyway. You can get guards this late who can play. We really need a RB and a G... And who the heck on this team is going to play the 1-tech on defense?

My worst fear is what we were talking about in another thread, that Jerry has convinced himself that our problems on defense were 100% Rob Ryan, the guy who just two years earlier was a genius. Now Kiffin is supposed to fix it all. Not gonna happen.

We should be Giants fans. Between Pugh, Hankins and Moore, they've added some 871 pounds to their respective lines of scrimmage. Of course, they have a real GM, so ...

I agree we needed a safety. I just hate the guy we took. We've been trying project safeties forever with no luck. Enough already.

What about Carolina... Star, Short, and a 317-lb guard.

Or Tennessee, with Warmack and Schwenke. Not bad.

Right, because stopping the run is so key in the NFL nowadays. So that kind of lessens Hankins' addition, who can't rush the passer worth a crap.

Moore is light, so I don't know how that adds anything to your point, and they have to reload on DEs anyways because Tuck has slowed down and Osi is a headcase.

Pugh is barely over 300 lbs. So basically like 25% of that weight distribution falls on Hankins lol

Would you have been OK with us drafting a QB?

At least this time Jerry didn't sign a few crappy OL veterans and pretend that the team had already addressed its OL needs before the draft.

I'm bummed out that we haven't addressed the 1 technique.

I wanted to really come out with at least a RT and a DT from this draft.

Pugh is barely over 300 lbs. So basically 65% of that weight distribution falls on Hankins lol

Would you have been OK with us drafting a QB?

The run is insignificant? I guess we don't have to replace Felix, then. How did Minny make the playoffs last year? By throwing it?

As for Moore, he's only five pounds lighter than Ware--a guy we're counting on to beat 320LB tackles on a weekly basis next year. QBs are irrelevant to this discussion. The Gmen took one only after addressing their lines.

Seems #Seahawks are just going straight down their draft board. Schneider staying true. Compiling starting-caliber depth. Awesome roster.

Meanwhile, we're drafting to replace expensive players. Screw player evaluations, we're all about logistics over here. #businessdrafting

this off-season we have basically added two starters.
Justin Durant and Travis Frederick.

Look out world!

I mean we went 8 and 8 and now we've added those 2 guys. How do we not win it all?

Who won the Super Bowl? I forgot already.

QBs aren't irrelevant to the discussion. He was a luxury pick, just like using the extra 3rd on Terence Williams was.

We have needs everywhere and so to label it all on the 2 lines is short-sighted at best.

This draft is exactly what we do, and exactly why we have the holes we have.

Out of 5 picks, we drafted one guy who we assume we will be starting in 2013. Other than that, we've drafted backups in places where we're pretty solid relatively speaking, except for the S. Escobar won't be the starting TE for 3 years. Williams will only start if Austin is cut or hurt, and maybe not even then. Wilcox won't play much on D this year, he's a ST guy year one, and could possibly be a Matt Johnson redshirt for 2013. And our CB will be lucky to make the fucking team, at best he's a 4th CB.
