Opinion: What is the worse infraction?

Speeding.
Smoking weed hasn't affected me any.
Unless you count my kids that have three arms.

I know there are different situations, and its difficult to compare.. but take it down to its most basic form.

What's worse.. a guy sitting at home, maybe with a few friends, smoking a little bud.. or a guy on his way home from work going 15 over the speed limit because he thinks its no big deal?

I'd still say speeding puts many more people in danger, so regardless of what the law says, i find speeding to be the generally worse offense.

In Texas #1 is a Class C Misdemeanor, and #2 is a Class A Misdemeanor. So the worse offense in the eyes of the law is the marijuana.

And the legality of a thing isn't always tied to what puts more people in danger. Embezzling millions of dollars is probably less dangerous to other people than going 40 mph over the speed limit, but that doesn't make it a lesser offense.

Im well aware.. and i echo that statement when i say that i think speeding is the worse offense because it puts many more people in danger, even though in most places possession of marijuana is the more serious criminal offense.

What makes it less of an offense is that you now have millions of dollars to pay someone to defend you.

Yes, I think that's ridiculous. I get it, you think that marijuana should be legalized... I don't disagree.

But if I'm going 72 mph down a four lane Texas highway, I'm not putting "many more people in danger" than I am if I'm going 70. The speed limit is nothing more than an arbitrary line based loosely on whatever particular road you happen to be on.

You're basically just saying someone driving a car puts more people in danger than marijuana. That's ridiculous.

Your usually looking at at least 10-15 over the limit with people who blatently ignore the speed limit signs.. and yes, in that case, it gives them much less time to react to any number of things that can happen on the road where you have to react quickly and maneuver or slam the breaks. Its much more dangerous than someone smoking weed, if for nothing else than because someone smoking weed is about as dangerous as someone watering flowers in their backyard.

How many people die each year from smoking weed? How many die from car crashes/accidents? What percentage of those accidents/crashes involve sober people exceeding the speed limit?

Um, I beg to differ... I've been pulled over and given multiple warnings for going under 5 mph over the speed limit. Your reaction time isn't markedly different when you're going that much over the speed limit. Most people who speed don't go 15 mph over the speed limit.

I'm not arguing weed is dangerous. It's not any more dangerous than alcohol is. When it gets dangerous is when people under the influence do things that they shouldn't, like drive.

I hate freeway exits that say 20 mph. I usually take them at 40 mph just to prove a point. Whoever set the speed limits wasn't ever in a hurry to get somewhere ever. 65 mph is too slow on any freeway. School zones should be 40mph instead of 25.

They should also make little bridges for trains to go over intersections instead of having railroad crossings.

The worst is city buses pulling over at a bus stop but still being 4 feet in my lane.

Diesel trucks think they own the road according to grandpa.
