Cowboys practice report: Day 11, Pt. 2

SAN ANTONIO -- For the second consecutive practice, the Cowboys worked on a two-minute drill. Unlike the morning session, the team attempted field goals if they it up short of the end zone.
Here are the highlights:
*Guard Montrae Holland (hamstring), wide receiver Dez Bryant (ankle), safety Pat Watkins (knee), safety Akwasi Owusu-Ansah (shoulder), linebacker Sean Lee (quad), linebacker Stephen Hodge (knee), linebacker Brandon Williams (knee) and nose tackle Sean Lissemore (groin) were out. Lee and Owusu-Ansah will return to practice on Wednesday. If all goes well, expect Lee to play in Sunday preseason opener. Owusu-Ansah won't play Sunday.
*The two-minute portion of the offense was the best part of the practice. We break down the three quarterbacks:
Tony Romo
Romo did a nice job of getting the ball out under pressure and showed poise. His first two completions were to his main wide receivers in Miles Austin and Roy Williams. Faced with a third-and-5, Romo found his favorite receiver, tight end Jason Witten, for a first down. With 50 seconds left, Romo connected with Patrick Crayton for another first down. One of Romo's best throws was a back-shoulder-fade to Crayton with 32 seconds left.
After Bryan McCann was beaten on the play, safety coach Brett Maxie screamed, "Go to the next play. Go to the next play."
On the next play, Romo fired a bullet to Williams in the end zone that fell incomplete. The pass was dropped, but the interesting thing about the play was that as soon as Williams turned around, the ball was right up on him. On the next play, Romo threw to the other side for a touchdown to Austin.
Jon Kitna
There have been questions regarding his arm strength but Kitna is a veteran quarterback with 13 years of experience, and he isn't frazzled by the pressures of scoring late. Kitna started off well in this drill, but he kept his passes underneath to Felix Jones and Kevin Ogletree. But Kitna was nearly hurt on an interception. Mike Jenkins dropped a potential pick on a pass intended for Ogletree. Good pressure from the outside from Stephen Bowen on the play pushed Kitna to get rid of the ball quickly. Kitna completed two passes to Jones to setup a 40-yard field goal try from David Buehler.
He made it with no problem to end the drive.
Stephen McGee
He's going to see plenty of snaps the first two preseason games. When given time, McGee displays a pretty strong arm but his decision making is questionable. He drove the offense down the field with two nice throws to Terrell Hudgins. His next pass, which was a little high to Titus Ryan, might have been knocked down if Jamar Wall had played the ball. Instead, Wall jumped in front of Ryan and mistimed his leap. It allowed Ryan to get the reception. But coach Wade Phillips called a holding call to wipeout the completion. The offense moved the ball back to the 30.
McGee went underneath to Choice, who let the ball go through his hands and Leon Williams grabbed it for an interception. This time, Phillips called pass interference to give the offense one more shot.
McGee made a bad throw to end the session when he was late to Ryan, who ran an out route. Gordon made the interception by making a perfect read on the ball.
Still the Cowboys attempted a field goal and Buehler from 42 yards was good.
